Food was good and so was the coffee. We had pasta with speck, fruit bread and the salad of the day which were all tasty and had interesting elements to them.

Trout was fantastic. No bones - melt in your mouth. Great service.

Cool place in New Acton. A bit pricey and trendy, but also good.

Tasty food is served here, but in smaller portion. Interesting wine list of mainly local wines so far unknown to me. And very friendly staff. I went on a Sunday night, which was a quiet time at A. Baker.

Props to this little gem! Surprised the hell out of me with the sheer quality of the place. I live in Melbourne and I have known great cafes. While traveling for business I went here for breakfast as it was around the corner from the hotel. Great coffee. OUTSTANDING food. Brilliant atmosphere. Would punch well in the same weight class as some of the best Melbourne can offer in my opinion, even if that sounds biased! So very worth the visit.

This is a nice cafe/restaurant with industrial style interior. During the week, I love coming for a morning coffee and pastry (from Three Mills Bakery in Majura). Service is quick, and it is OK to just get a takeaway coffee despite the 'dine-in' feel of the place. I have had lunch here previously which I recall was seasonal and delicious but too expensive to do too often.
I avoid coming on the weekend, because it is packed and you might have to wait for a table. On busy weekends, I have experienced hiccups in service, but for a cafe as popular as this on the weekend, they do a great job of keeping it together!
A Baker is surrounded by gardens and is a great atmosphere to sit outside when the weather is warm enough, with outdoor space for kiddies to run free.

1. Service could have been a great deal less "cool", 2. The food was nice, but so fashionably minimalistic that I was still well hungry after, especially given the price tag. Great environment though.
For the record I had the steak, a 100-150g piece rare on one side and charred on the other then sliced (tasted very nice , good texture. But the only other things on the plate were lots of fried onions (good texture), a head of garlic, roasted (garnish, I think), and two foot long beans that were undercooked to the point that they were inedible.
Maybe I got them on a bad day. :o/

I really cool venue with two garden court yards that always dishes up great food. Its located in New Acton inbetween Parlour Wine Room (great for a pre dinner cocktail) and a really nice smelling pizza restaurant.

Last night we had their Sunday special menu that was kinda of small (3 mains choices) but my seafood tomato bisc was delicious and the other dishes served up were equally well received and look delicious (A vegetarian pasta and a beef salad)

I have visited A.Baker many time for breakfasts, lunches and dinners. All great experiences and with good to gread service.

Beautiful setting, menu that changes seasonally and regularly. Great food to enjoy for any meal of the day

Over rated
Very expensive meal, poor service, basic seating and not enough food on my plate!

We were here for lady gathering night. We choose 'Just feed me' 67 per person as we had no idea at our first time visit. These were all dishes we got (see photo). Please noted, one of us does not eat red meat; therefore, we told this requirement to waiter. Overall nice food and good services.
