Local community radio station in Glen Innes - broadcasting to Glen Innes on 105. 9 FM and Deepwater on 91. 1 FM

2CBD FM has its studios and transmitters located in Deepwater and Glen Innes and soon, a relay in Emmaville. Our service area cover is quite large extending from there to a way over there. Radio 2CBD would come in the general catagory however we transmit a variety of programs including Country both old and new, Christian, Irish, Sport, Health programs etc. Radio 2CBD offers a free service to non profit community organisations through the community announcement segments. These segments are broadcast randomly or scattered throughout the days programs. Radio 2CBD also gets involved in various community activities in the local area, One example of this is the Deepwater & Glen Innes Carolls, Deepwater Races and Markets etc. We promote this and other similar events, as well as running a sausage sizzle at some of these events. Radio 2CBD is currently promoting our outside broadcast facility to the business community allowing us to help local businesses to prosper. Radio 2CBD currently has a variety of presenters producing programs of various types. Some of the members of Our Community Health produce a very informative weekly health issues program. We have One presenter who present a Two hour program each week promoting the Christian Faith. We also have a 3 hour program from 9am to noon, called the Morning Access Program, where the Community can access the program to support their particular Organizations. This program is aired every weekday morning. Radio 2CBD Community Radio, is currently seeking to expand our broadcast area due to the amalgamation of several councils into one super council, which we will need to be able to cover if we are to continue being the broadcast voice of the North The management committee in charge of 2CBD FM believe that a Community Radio Station is needed in this area because: 1. Many people have shown interest in radio and community radio is ideal for such people to try out this exciting field. 2. The main stream media cannot and will not provide services to community groups as do community radio stations. 3. We have had many comments from listeners stating that they are not happy listening to commercial radio but do enjoy the varity in Community Radio.

Around 30 volunteers carry out the many functions of operating the two studios, with an estimated 10, 000 hours of volunteer time each year. Community Radio within the Glen Innes District has been able to provide the following positive effects: Gives listening choice to the community Provides opportunities for young people to develop self esteem Provides the disabled with new opportunities and again to develop self esteem Provides local service clubs with the opportunity to promote their community activities Provides small business with the capacity for cost effective promotion of their goods and services Creates a positive “Sense of Community” within villages, localities and the town & district Gives the capacity to provide timely advice to the local community in the event of emergency situations Provides the travelling public and transport operators with a choice of entertainment Through the online web services, gives an international voice and window into the Glen Innes community. Note: This service will be back in operation shortly. Again through the online service, gives ex-pat locals the ability to stay in touch. 2CBD have a number of works planned in order to improve the already excellent community service function. The Committee of Management are mindful to carefully manage the workload placed on our individual volunteers and, we place high value on the constructive efforts of them all. 2CBD are currently investigating a purpose built studio with support amenities which will give modern effective space for the growing operation.
