Ananas Description

Ananas is Sydney’s complete bar and dining destination, bringing a taste of the contemporary French Mediterranean / Cote D’Azur to Sydney’s Circular Quay.

French for pineapple, the word ananas has for centuries been synonymous with hospitality and abundance. Housed within Sydney’s prominent Circular Quay, featuring perfect Harbour views, Ananas is both sassy and avant garde with fun inspired décor including art deco lamps and hand-painted tiles cheekily referencing the pineapple.

Classic and signature cocktails and an impressive selection of local and French wines (some exclusive to Australia) will complete the comprehensive drinks list.

Ananas, formally located in The Rocks is the vision of hospitality entrepreneur John Szangolies. The brasserie serves light, produce-centric food, cooked with traditional French methods but featuring global cues and accessible prices.

Extensive bar and banquette seating makes the relaxed bar somewhere to kick back and settle in while enjoying the buzzy atmosphere in a chic Parisian setting. The brasserie offers a selection of seating as well as private dining rooms for larger groups or those seeking a more discreet experience.

The full brasserie menu is complemented by a bar menu selection, for those wanting to make the most of the late license from Thursday to Sunday. Few Sydney venues offer such a complete late night dining experience, so night dwellers and theatre goers will love this tres bon brasserie.

Went to their all you can eat mussels on Monday night and was delighted! Mussels were great, lychee martinee was delicious and service was pleasant. The manager was quick to ask if we needed a new bowl of mussels when he noticed we were running low. Will definitely be back!

Terrible service, rude waiters with overall arrogance. No smiles, not friendly at all. We waited 20 minutes till someone took our order when we first sat down. Not even a drink order or a welcome to the restaurant. We had the waiter drop wine all over the table and us as he poured red wine. No apology. Food was cold on arrival to the table and bland. We had no explanation of the food, including any of the 5 sauces that we were dumped with. We had to ask for our table to be cleared, after waiting over 30 minutes of our post meal plates sitting there. Take note of these awful reviews you see - they are truthful and on point. I only wish I had read reviews before going! Not good at all, not worth the exxy price tag! $40 for mains, not worth it. Go to Felix, or Bistro Pappilon for real french food and service!

User

Food very disappointing. Bland bland bland. Needed salt to try and find flavour.in the bouillabaisse which was watery and flavourless. Wines by the glass were very ordinary. Service with few people in the restaurant was rubbish. One star is generous.

User

Yummy french influenced food. Amazing views and decent prices. Try it!

User

Horrible experience! Cocktails arrived after the food was served, with no apology. Food and desserts were nice but the experience we had with the waitress was shocking! Not only she kept ignoring us, but she didn't bother coming around after dessert was served ! We had to go and personally ask for our bill from another waitress and only to find out we were charged $100 more for things we never ordered! At this time manager walks in and rudely asks us why are we standing around!! Finally after 10mins, he manages to fix our bill and we walk out NEVER TO RETURN! Shocking service, SHOCKING.

User

It's not fine dining at all!!!! Steak was horrible! Manager told us it's just a quality of meat. What is the awful thing to say. He said to us what you expect if you booked with DIMMI. We will never come back. We left this place with feeling like we went to ordinary pub.

User

I loved this place - the food was delicious and generous servings and the ambience was very friendly but what really stood out was the attention given to my 2 granddaughters (4 and 2 years) who were treated with respect and were spoken to, and not spoken at, just like the paying adults! This will always stay in my mind when I am chosing a place to take my extended family to - it is very difficult to find wonderful places to eat which don't frown upon little children being there!

User

Great wine selection and vibe, Friday nights seem to have the bar taken over completely so if you're after a drink then it's great. Quiet dinner... perhaps go on another night.

The ambience is very different to their last location in the rocks but still nice.

User

Unsure how anyone can wreck a pasta dish but our lobster pasta was terrible no flavour, lobster over cooked spaghetti under cooked and for the lemon sole drowned in lemon butter not enough for the strong fishy smell to be camouflaged ate it because I was starving terrible mistake as I still feel sick. However staff were friendly.

User

What a disappointment! We booked for the second seating for New Year’s Eve, so that we could view the midnight fireworks.

We arrived just before 10 pm. It took ages for us to have our orders taken. The main arrived right in the middle of the fireworks, and the dessert nearly two hours later. The setup was changed from fixed menu to A La Carte. Whoever made the decision to do that should loose his/her job as it seems they have no understanding of restaurant management (I do). Having everyone arrive at the same time and order different things is a recipe for disaster. Also, the set menu included lobster. However, when it came to us ordering the lobster from the Carte, it was all gone!

The quality of the food we had could not be faulted, nor was the friendliness of staff and management present on the night. The made a gesture to compensate the experience. But, it goes without saying we were very disappointed, especially as the place had been recommended to us.

User

Good value food options, friendly attentive service.

Excellent food in a beautiful location with top-notch service – who could ask for more?! Cafe Ananas is a great choice for higher-end dining in the CBD, with a good selection of dishes and a wine list to match. Really love the complimentary bread as a starter, and the attentiveness of the wait staff was spot on.
