The Medicine Chest Compounding Pharmacy is a locally owned independent pharmacy and has been serving clients in Port Macquarie since 1995.

Our pharmacists collaborate with doctors, specialists and patients in order to prepare patient-specific medications. Compounding allows us to create formulations in unique strengths and dosage forms.

At The Medicine Chest we strive to provide a friendly and efficient service. We are committed to guiding our patients to achieve positive therapeutic outcomes. Our state of the art compounding laboratory contains pharmaceutical grade chemicals and specialised equipment, including a powder containment unit, ointment mill, electronic mortar and pestle and capsule machine.

We specialise in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy available in creams, troches and capsules. We also prepare specific medications in areas such as hospice care, pain management, paediatrics, dermatology, cosmeceuticals and veterinary formulations.

Our pharmacist and compounding technician have received extensive training in compounding techniques. We operate within a support network that promotes constant exchange of ideas, innovations and techniques. This enables our patients and doctors to benefit from decades of compounding experience.

Virginia Baker has owned The Medicine Chest Pharmacy in Port Macquarie since 1995. Virginia has a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Sydney and a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Queensland. She is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, the Australian College of Pharmacy Practice, The Professional Compounding Chemists of Australia and The Australian Academy of Anti-aging Medicine (A5M). In 2007 Virginia was awarded the Jack Thomas Trophy for clinical excellence.

In 2010 Virginia recognised a need for custom made medicines in Port Macquarie and The Compounding Lab was established with the pharmacy. Virginia prides herself on being able to provide quality compounded products using the highest quality ingredients and state of the art equipment.
