Trappers Bakery

This is slightly bigger than your average high street bakery. Good place to stop for a meal and break on a long road trip. Pies are quite nice - the chilli beef is not for the spice-averse. They do everything you'd expect from a bakery, plus coffee, shakes and more.

Staple favourite of pie, peas, mash and gravy is now prepackaged. Too much packaging.
Mash tastes like it isn't made of potato, gravy is like caterer's bulk mix and is ordinary. Pie was good as were the peas. Service was quick👍.
Stick to the pies!!

Perfect road side stop over. Huge selection of sweet and savoury pies, salads, bakery treats, bread. Large dinning hall with options to s it inside and out. Plenty of parking and amenities

Large selection of pies and food but nothing that special. The Sausage roll wasn't amazing. Nit much else around so probably a better choice than the well known chain up the road. Coffee was good and large selection of cakes. Lots of seating but inside gets taken up quick when busy. The outside covered area is quite soulless but room to eat

Unfortunately I did not enjoy my stop at Trappers. Firstly the plus: A great roaring fireplace to keep you warm and give you something to gaze into while you're taking a much needed rest. The staff were patient while I took my time ordering in my overtired haze from all that driving. The bathrooms were clean, and the chairs were relatively comfy. Now the bad: I ordered a chunky steak pie, and unfortunately it was not good. There were literally only 5 small (1.5cm size) chunks of steak, with the rest being a gelatinous sludge of generic and not very good gravy. I was pretty disappointed. I also ordered the pie with peas, expecting a nice serving of mushy peas on top, instead I got a small cup of peas. Like actual peas. Perhaps a mistake in ordering on my part, but I would have thought that pie with (mushy) peas is a fairly standard order? The coffee was fine. Not great, but not undrinkable. I personally would not stop here again.

Great place for breakfast (especially in winter with bug open fireplace). Food quality is reasonable with big portions. Average prices.

Great local bakery with a huge selection on goods. Staff are friendly. Top choice was chocolate croissant

Great food but only average coffee, which is highly dependent upon just who is making the coffee.
Kept waiting for an ordered sandwich as they forgot to send the notice to the buzzer.
Very quick service unfortunately a lot of customers only start deciding on what they want we hen the get to the counter.
Whether it is a pie, sandwich, loaf of bread or a meal you will not be disappointed.

Excellent Travellers stop. Delicious REAL food. Service is quick and convenient. Lovely to stop in winter when the fire is crackling.
