About University Of Newcastle Islamic Society (Unis)
University of Newcastle Islamic Society is the formal student body representing Muslim students on University of Newcastle campus.
University Of Newcastle Islamic Society (Unis) Description
As far as written record goes, The University of Newcastle Islamic Society (UNIS) was established in the year 2006. It’s members have always consisted of students from different countries and educational backgrounds.
Over these years, UNIS role as a body, representing the muslim students on campus, have increasingly grown in its importance due to the continuous in flow of muslims coming to study in Newcastle. In present, there are more than 1000 muslims studying on campus. UNIS works in uniting all brothers and sister in Islam as well as ensuring that the welfare of the muslim students are well taken care of.
UNIS have been active organizing multiple events on campus aiming to support and develop the body of muslim students and to create bonds among muslim students as well as to reach other communities. Every year, UNIS Ramadan Iftar brings the students, communities and other members in the university under the same shade. UNIS also arranges weekly Friday prayers at campus and organises student gatherings for learning Qur’an and religion.
UNIS also works in reaching out to educate the community outside the university, such as sending students to give talks about Islam in primary schools and organizing seminars during Harmony Day for students to attend.
UNIS aims to maintain its presence on campus with a strong line of passionate members representing their faith, inshAllah.

Salaam Alikom Brothers & Sisters. We've changed the Quranic Classes on Campus to be after Zuhr Prayer on Mondays at 12.30pm starting next Monday (13/8/2018). Pease come show your support and have lunch <3 The session will be headed by Sheikh Hamed. See you all there Inn Sha'a Allah.
Salaam alikom everybody. We have decided to organize a weekly class for Quranic studies at Hunter prayer room. The first session with Sheikh Mohamed Hamed will begin this Monday (6th August 2018) Inn Sha'a Allah. The session will begin with Magreb, followed by the class and then some light dinner provided by UNIS. If there are any files to be uploaded, they will be uploaded prior to the session on a FB page for the members of the weekly class. so keep a lookout for that. Also, make sure you check for announcements in case there are any changes. This is our first try so BismilLaah <3 We need your support to make this happen weekly.
