Animal Defenders Office Description

The Animal Defenders Office was set up in December 2013 by volunteers as a national non-profit community legal centre specialising in animal law. Our goals are to advocate for law reform and to provide free advice and assistance to individuals and groups seeking to protect animals. In 2017 we received full accreditation from Australia's National Association of Community Legal Centres (NACLC), becoming the first accredited animal law community legal centre in NSW and the ACT, if not mainland Australia. We are still completely run by volunteer lawyers, law students, and other passionate members of the community. We receive no government funding for our work.
