Australian Wildlife Services provides services in: • Kangaroo management, integration with pastoral production and sustainable use• Threatened species conservation and policy development• Wildlife industries and land management techniques to aid conservation• Wildlife population assessment, fauna surveys and habitat management• Indigenous land management – integrating traditional knowledge and science• Wildlife-based ecotourism• Exploring carbon abatement projects under the Carbon Farming Initiative• Advice on strategic research priorities, environmental planning and monitoring programs• Geographic Information Systems database and image processing, mapping and modeling• Veterinary wildlife servicesAWS has in-house expertise and experience in: • aerial wildlife surveys and photography using our own aircraft• use of tranquiliser guns for wildlife restraint and veterinary diagnostics • soil, water, biodiversity, landscape health monitoring • map production • computing and design• report, journal article and plan preparation. Current clients include Indigenous communities and rural landholders, private and public service companies, government and its agencies, tourism operators and zoos. AWS has extensive networks in wildlife science, agriculture, conservation and natural resource management. Dr George Wilson is an honorary Professor at the Australian National University, Fenner School of Environment and Society. He has more than >40 years experience in wildlife and environmental management, strategic policy analysis, and research program management. Jennifer Smits is accomplished field ecologist and GIS expert.
