Ever wonder why some salons can have you in and out in an hour for maintenance? Generally because they’re interlocking your dreads, just feeding them back through a loop in the top, which makes them look tidy temporarily but in reality causes weak areas and loops and doesn’t actually matt the hair into the dreads. Our method uses just a crochet hook to knot up every strand of hair into the locs, helping them matt up and dread properly, and this can take anywhere from 2-3 hours, depending how much loose hair you have that needs working in. It lasts longer between maintenance sessions and keeps your dreads cylindrical and strong.

Can you believe the dreads in the pic on the left are only a couple of weeks old, made by a fairly well known loc salon in Brisbane for a rather large pocket of cash. Puffy, interlocked, non-matted dreadlocks that had no real substance and were falling out. Couple of hours with me maintaining them today and they’ve now got a great foundation to their baby locs journey as actual dreads, not puffy slugs about to fall out.
We make sure every loc is matted up properly, ensuring your new dreadlings have the best start possible to grow long and lush. Do your research people and avoid getting ripped off.

Andrew has been growing the surrounding hair to incorporate into his locs and has also found his hair that he cut off 20 years ago! Today we fattened up his dreads and matted in that loose hair. We also strengthened and thickened them with his cut hair to give them a good strong bond. They’ll need more fattening up as they grow but this gets them started 🙂 Due to change in career paths and limited time availability, I will be increasing prices of dreads maintenance to $75 / hr.
