I ordered the Smashed avocado on ciabatta bread, and I asked for my eggs to be scrambled, fully expecting to pay extra for that. We were not charged extra at the time when we ordered our food at the till, and the waiter came over later asking for an extra $1.50 for the eggs to be scrambled, I gave him the money and he returned with my change saying that it was actually an extra $2.50 instead. When our food arrived, I received 1 scrambled egg, just one. The smashed avocado on its own with poached egg is $16.50, you do not receive 2 eggs with it even though our menu had "smashed avocado with poached eggs" written on it. The excuse we were given by the staff was that they had whited out the "s" in eggs on the other menus, and that someone must have scratched off the white out over the "s" on the menu we received. We asked to see the manager and she said that to have the egg scrambled was an extra $2.00 because she had to use cream to scramble it, we were getting irritated by this point because the waiter had come over earlier saying it was $1.50 and then coming back saying it was $2.50 instead. The manager was insistent that we were only charged $2.00, but I had given the waiter a $5 note and was given back $2.50 in change. She brought over our .50 cents that we were overcharged, and later brought out extra scrambled eggs, but acted like it was our fault that we were expecting more from the beginning, even though the menu we received stated otherwise. In all honesty, we will not be returning to this cafe. My ciabatta bread was cold and wasn't toasted, and there was only one egg for breakfast that cost $18.50.

What a great place for a mad feed! Got to love those bacon and egg rolls! Hands down the best in Canberra.

Great breakfast Excellent flat white coffee . I have been going to Cafe Benjamin for the last year when I am in Canberra for business. Have found the shop to be very good and relaxing place to eat before a hard days work. Have been in many cafes in many countries around the world and have found this one is as good or better than the many others that I have been to. Many Thanks Guys.

Shopping hard for a wedding ring and sunglasses it was time for a coffee and a treat for being a good boy. Popped into CoB , greeted with a smile and a hello how are you today? We placed our order and it arrived in quick time and as ordered, Hot, weak and skinny. I had a carrot cake and my wife had an apple crumble cheesecake (we shared the cheesecake, to die for)

ive been coming here for while now. Not sure where the bad reviews coming out. I felt the staff are very nice and friendly, coffee is great, foods amazing. Will keep continuing to come here.

Service wasnt that bad on a quiet Friday morning. A small outdoor dining area as well as inside. Get a cool breeze from the stréet. Pleasant enough place for a coffee.
