We really enjoyed our visit. It's great with kids as you can do as many galleries as you like without needing to walk far

A nice, well- kept and quiet space right in downtown Civic next to the library and theatre.
Small cafe in the foyer is popular with subdued Canberra locations, features a kids' book browsing rack with some great Australian picture books.
Found the curating choices in the gallery spaces a bit odd but there's no entry fee so nothing lost if you don't like it.

Nice little gallery with some interesting pieces inside. It's definitely worth a look if you're in or passing through Canberra. The staff there are also very helpful.

Very nice place we're to spend an hour or so. Having only 2 rooms it's easy to appreciate the artworks with no pressure and in your own time. Artwork exhibited is very interesting and the staff very friendly.

Really interesting and there is a great diversity to the displays and themes covered. You definitely need a few hours to have even a quick walk through the whole museum. No trouble spending half a day or more there. Enough to look at for children to enjoy regardless of age. It is a very good overview of Australian culture, history, industry and the natural environment.

A wonderful local gallery and museum with excellent exhibitions and lovely staff.

User

Very interesting with some early Canberra information on display.

Other than that it is relatively doring as it is more gallery than museum.

Entry is free and worth spending some time looking thru it provided you don't get the numerous inconsiderate people who talk very loudly on the phone whislt walk through the displays. Unfortunately it echoes around and becomes even louder.

There should be signs posted and staff warnings about not using mobile phones.

Has a nice collection of Sydney Nolan art, which is better displayed here then at the one at National Gallery. Using the term Museum is overselling it. It has a very small permanent art collection, so how good your experience is will depend on the quality of the visiting exhibition.

User

User

Central location with nice feel to it. Art treasures tucked in a quiet area. Good cafe. Friendly staff

User

Very nice exhibition space. Generally has interesting and sometimes slightly transgressive shows of usually minor artists and local interest subjects. Caters well also for children with a small free craft table and a book nook for quiet reading. Small cafe with limited hours.
