Good food and coffee, service is a bit slow, which is fine if your there to catch up with friends.

My mother and I dined at Cream on Sunday for brunch and had an absolutely awful experience.
The cafe seemed busy but we were seated promptly, the waitress took our order not long after we arrived and the drinks came out quickly. However, we waited well over 45 minutes for our food (as did the table next to us). When we enquired as to how long it would be and were told it was 'next' which it clearly wasn't. The staff were careless and did not offer an apology at any time. When the food came there was no 'thanks for waiting' or 'sorry for the delay' - it was just placed in front of us.
When the food arrived it was absolutely appalling. First of all it was cold and extremely mean. I ordered the potato rosti which came with salmon and whipped feta. The smoked salmon was fine (hard to stuff that up) but the whipped feta was not whipped and less than a teaspoon in total. The rosti somehow managed to be dry and greasy at the same time and was inedible.
My mother ordered poached eggs with toast and tomato and was given 1/4 of a tomato and one dry piece of toast (unbuttered).
Despite leaving most of our food on our plate we were not asked at any stage how our meal was. When we went to pay a different waitress was equally unpleasant. When we realised we were charged an additional $4 for the 1/4 of tomato received and mentioned that this seemed unfair it was removed from the bill but again no apology was offered or any questions asked.
The terrible quality of the food was matched only by the appalling and utterly careless service. The cafe was reasonably busy which is astonishing to me. The table of 4 next to us seemed to have the same unpleasant experience.
If we had received so much as an apology for the delay in the food I wouldn't feel the need to write such a negative review but when you're handing over your money to service staff that couldn't care less and a kitchen that produces the worst quality food I've had in years I feel the need to say something. I imagine the service staff behave in such a manner as they've become accustomed to complaints and maybe don't want to put much effort into food they must be embarrassed to serve?
I have no idea how a business survives with such terrible food and service. I would strongly advice you not to waste your money or time on attending this restaurant. There are much nicer places in the city or nearby in Braddon or Acton.

I would prefer to give 0 stars. Came in on a Sunday, waiting an hour for food. Had to ask how long. Asked for our four drinks to be complimentary but the manager refused, offering four coffees after our meals instead. Did not have another hour to waste, seemed ridiculous to wait for coffees after we’d already had coffees and waited so long. Food was cold and servings were small. Rosti was like rubber. No apology given. We refused to pay for cold side of mushrooms. Asked for the chips to be taken off the bill. Manager was anatagonistic and blamed his staff’s incompetence, we assume his defensiveness is due to this being a regular occurrence. Insult topped off with a Sunday surcharge.

Reasonable tea and coffee and a nice cake selection. Can't beat the central location.

We had a very late breakfast at 2.30 I think it was. And it was great. The Rösti is really special. The coffee from a Sydney based roaster is lovely. Not sure, where the name comes from, but I am very attracted to cream, which I would need to taste next time.

Never to return after 3 times in row of bacon not being cooked properly, feeling sick afterwards. Way overpriced for quality. guess they are trying to recoup a very expensive fitout by having high prices but low end chefs and wait staff not properly trained. For such a location, I cannot understand why they haven't recognised this and done something about it....

Popular with Canberra locals, Cream can provide excellent food and beverage. Overtime my experience has been consistently positive. If you are in town on a chilly day Cream is worth a visit. The waitress just gave me some good advice about their most excellent hot chocolate, mm.

Had breakfast here today, and it was amazing food, coffee and the service spot on. Highly recommended.

Provided feedback about meal to owner (I think). Steak was chewy, fatty, and unenjoyable. He talked over me and insisted it was a good cut of meat. Do what you want with my feedback, but he then glared at us until we left. Very uncomfortable.

Only popped in for a morning coffee but stayed to enjoy the warmth, good wifi reception and the view of the passing parade on Bunda Street. Friendly service between the rush hours.

Asked if they were open and serving coffee, lady (rolling cutlery) outside said she didn't know, go in and ask. Went in and was observed by staff but not greeted in anyway or invited to take a seat (they have a sign saying wait to be seated). After a few minutes the lady returned and told me to just take any seat. Ordered coffee and toast. Coffee OK, but not weak as ordered, and the butter portion barely covered one quarter of toast serving. Jam was very nice.

Had breakfast at cream this morning. The staff are the biggest letdown ofnthusbplace. Not once did we see a smile. The staff were cold and unfriendly- witnessed one staff member being berated by another for not doing something. They were not rude to us, they did their job, but there was no warmth or happiness. None of them seemed like they wanted to be there. The food was average, the coffee was good. The toilets had broken taps and the lights weren't working in the men's. What has happened to Cream - it used to be so vibrant and energetic with happy, welcoming staff- it was my favorite cafe in civic. Not sure I'll go back if this is how Cream is these days.
