Fortune Box

Tonight was my first time eating at fortune box,and will be the last,we went in and ordered hot pots we got eel and preserved meat,we were very disappointed when the hot pot came out,the preserved meat on the picture was slices of pork over rice,when we got it,it was just Chinese sausages and steamed greens over rice,30 minutes later the eel hot pot came out,it was very disappointing to take that long,we also asked for soy sauce but never brought out,the owner lady just pretended like she herd us but didn’t,while we were eating and talking the owner lady was yelling very loud across the room to the chef,service was VERY BAD and will NEVER be coming back,if could I would give them 0 stars,they don’t deserve any stars for what happened tonight

If I could give no stars I would. Spring rolls were burnt. Lemon chicken tasted nothing like lemon. The sweet and sour sauce tasted more lemony. I could cook better than this and I'm so bad I've nearly burnt my kitchen down from inattention!!!

For the past year this has been my favourite place to get chinese in gungahlin. The service has never been great but the food was good and I really like that you get to choose every component of your meal when you get one of their fortune boxes.

However the service I received tonight was appalling. We waited an hour for a relatively small order. The first estimate was half an hour (which was only communicated after we had paid) and after 50 minutes a staff member ran over to inform us that they would start cooking the food now. 50 minutes should not be an acceptable amount of time for a restaurant to wait before even beginning to prepare an order.

Once our food was ready I asked if I could grab a drink from the fridge for my combo. I was told I didn't order a combo. I told the staff member who took my order several times I wanted the 'regular combo'. I reiterated it on more than one occasion as he appeared to be having some difficulty taking the order (I had to tell him that steamed rice is offered in the fortune box more than once as he seemed to think the same order I've been getting for the past year could not be done despite the fact it's clearly stated on the menu). I am assuming he was new, which is fine, but I do not appreciate the response I got to pointing out that they had made a mistake and, after waiting one hour, that I would like a resolution.

While they did give me a coke eventually the service I received was rude and slow. Additionally, when I got the food home my fortune box was also not correct.

If I were rating off this one experience I would be campaigning for the ability to leave no star ratings. However, previous experiences have been okay so I will leave two stars.

My advice to anyone wishing to get takeaway from this restaurant is to do the math when they charge you as they will take no responsibility if they take your order down wrong - no matter how many times you repeat yourself while ordering, and to have a lot of time to spare.

Terrible.

Ordered via menulog. Was a decently big order ($167) for a few people.

They completely messed up the order. The food arrived super late, with many missing items, the food was also cold and there was items we didn't order/want!

When I called menulog to get a refund, they said the restaurant only offered to refund on what we didn't get, along with a 10 dollar "lateness" refund.

We weren't satisfied with that, so I have been trying to call this restaurant directly and so far 5 calls go unanswered.

If I could give a 0, I would.

Pretty average service but the taste of the food makes up for it. Do yourself a favour order over the phone and go and pick up so you don't have to deal with that shiz

Taste of home! Authentic Cantonese cuisine in Gungahlin!

The chef can make the best lobster noodle in Canberra and the Spring Onion Chicken is the best. If you do not want the food to be too salty, ask the chef to put less salt. He is happy to tailor your preference.

The service is awful and the food is overlooked and salty. Doesn't worth what they charge for. And I waited for more than one hour just to have a rice noodle takeaway. Such a disappointment.

I was utterly disappointed about the service provided by the owner lady. I called the restaurant to make sure it is open and the lady said they open till 3pm and i went there at 2.10pm and she said it is closed when there were customers still inside.The reason is I was a single customer and they could not be bothered to cook for a single customer which was pathetic. This has happen to me and my friends few times.Not a good way to run a business.Not going back again.

I love their xo seafood sauce, but I ordered a chicken noodle box last time I was there and it was more like a vegetarian dish. The chicken that was in there was very low grade. Luckily their sauce, noodles and veg are great, so I'll go back, but hoping they sort the meat issue out.
