Historic Hats & Bonnets

Aylwen Gardiner-Garden is a historical hatter and bonnet maker. She takes custom orders, teaches small classes in her home studio in Canberra and can travel to teach in your home town.

Aylwen has a Bachelor of Heritage, Museums & Conservation with majors in Conservation and Cultural Heritage Practice. She has studied historic textiles, historic sewing and hat making at the London College of Fashion, Royal School of Needlework, the School of Historical Dress, University of Cambridge, Berrington Hall and the Museum Resource and Learning Centre in Hereford, UK, the University of Copenhagen in Denmark and at Chateau Dumas in France. She has taught historical sewing & hat making in Australia, Germany and the United States.
