I decided on a whim to drop into IKEA as I was driving past Majura Park. It seems a little like the Tardis - while the building is huge, by the time you have walked the full length of its meandering lane and made it to the exit you feel that it is even bigger! The layout is clearly well designed.

IKEA wants its shoppers to see everything, and so lays out a pathway for them. I noticed that the arrows pointing you to the next section are not painted, but are in fact placed on the ground via lights above your head. This presumably makes reconfiguration exceedingly easy, and is another sign of the shop's design philosophy.

Within this enormous warehouse, there are sections for all sorts of inside and outside furniture solutions. There are also some interesting 'mini-homes' - display units that have been constructed using the company's products to show how you could actually organise a space no larger than the local Subway store into living, sleeping, cooking and cleaning areas. Very impressive.

The big down-side to IKEA is its overly clever layout. it is difficult to see how to simply charge to the section that you seek without following the pathway of shining arrows. This could be incredibly frustrating to the shopper who knows exactly what they want but cannot see the way to it past the buttressed, sectioned, divisions.

All up, worth a visit if you can spare a couple of hours - and certainly good exercise.

I absolutely love 💟IKEA products! I use various furniture pieces and loads of their decorator items. Every visit to a store leaves me with inspiration for my home 😉I really enjoy the styled rooms they set up showing the various ways the products can be used. I also look forward to a meal in the restaurant and a pick me up coffee. At times I have wished there were more staff on the floor to help answer questions and perhaps a few more short cuts to reach the registers rather than walk the whole store. Despite this, I'm always looking forward to my next visit! 😄✅

What can anyone say about IKEA apart from Wow.
There is so much to see and explore that you can spend hours there without realising.
The cafe / restaurant is wonderful with many people sitting down and making it into a full family dinner.
If your purchases are too big or heavy there's home delivery or you can hire one of the store's vans to get your items home safely.
Prices are always reasonable.

Ikea, everyone knows it. Its flatpack furniture good for furnishing rental houses and for small apartments. Some good ideas, particularly in lighting and storage - also priced well in these areas. The furniture seems overpriced for the materials its made from. The designs are super-modern, which in my opinion will date it fairly quickly. The food is priced for families, however this doesn't seem like the place you should be using to furnish the family home... unless maybe one of the kids bedrooms. Three stars.

Great furniture. Has sit down dining. Bring your walking shoes though it's quite a walk inside!

User

Great range and awesome display rooms. Self service is easy and prices are really good to boot.

User

Good products at fair prices. Need more staff in the restaurant though. Always long wait to be served, especially at the cafe. I actually feel sorry for the staff at times they are just so busy.

We went with a plan to get some cookware, finding a good range of well made, good value items to choose from. There's a huge collection of quality homewares to browse and these gave us ideas for future purchase. After the long walk through endless displays we had a light meal at the cafe, again finding a range of choice, good tasty food at better prices than the fast food outlets.

Have only visited once, quite an interesting experience. Did purchase items, found sizing in bed linen not the same as ours. Enjoyed a meal. Will return as we missed the furniture section.

User

As expected; a great large store and worth a walk around. There are some shortcuts, but I enjoyed the maze of cool furniture and other home wares. Did not get a chance to try the cafe food, maybe next time.

Good pricing that's it! Ordered 3x of wardrobes from IKEA, had to change plans to suit what they had in stock, no problem. Order arrives, missing half the wardrobe doors. Call to ask why, turns out they never put them on the order, why? they no longer sell them and wont transfer from a store that does. So now I'm stuck with all these wardrobes with half a door and no way to fix this and certainly no help offered from IKEA! Asked to speak to a manager and was flat out refused. Thanks to IKEA, will never be back.

Hidden halfway through the maze that is IKEA is a great cafe and restaurant. The food and the coffee are excellent. Next time I am at IKEA I will make sure i have time for some great food and drink too.
