... Sat. 2 June Demonstration and discussion in relation to sharpening (Hiroshi) Hiroshi will explore water stone sharpening using a macro lens to look deeper into the details.
Sat. 9 June Talk on timber movement (Hiroshi and Christian) Christian will show ​the way in which water affects timber, and Hiroshi will go into detail using his experience of Japanese joinery and scientific microscopic experience.

Chigiri Plate Making 2 days, 17-18 Feb $215
What is Chigiri?... Chigiri plate is KOITOYA original designed wooden plate.
The Japanese word "Chigiri" means butterfly joint but also refers to a strong connection.
When given as a gift, these Chigiri plates demonstrate the giver’s personal ties to the receiver.
By bonding two different timbers together, these plates were designed to make good use of unused narrow timbers obtained from sustainable forestry activities.
Time 9:00-12:00 + 13:00-16:00, 6 hours
Content 1. Making KOITOYA original design, Chigiri plate.
What you can gain 1. Make KOITOYA original designed plate to take home
2. Hands down knowledge about jointing curved joint, using router.
3. The essence of the Butterfly joint.
4. Turning experience.
5. Hand curving for decoration.
