Honestly, the food is over priced but its SO GOOD. I havent been to another Japanese place where I have liked the food as much as I loved Kokoro's food.

I would love to give kokoro a zero star if it was possible. Customer service was great to start off with, food was typical of Japanese but extremely pricey. When it came time to pay and i couldnt get my purse out fast enough for the senior staff " Are you going to pay" she stares at me and looks at me up and down. Maybe she was having a bad day. I dont know but i felt so embarrassed. Would never go there again, guaranteed

This place has great fresh food and delightful staff. Their Teriyaki Salmon/Chicken are my favourites. Pork chop is also good. I really appreciate the consistency of food quality there.

User

My favourite restaurant in Canberra. A little bit pricey but it positively reflects the incredibly high quality of the fish/food.

Come & eat here many times & the food is consistently good!
Their set menus for dinner are worth the $!
You'll go home feeling super full & content.
Other menus are pretty good too, good price & good serving size.
Sashimi is always fresh.
Can't fault this place other than the service can be slower when busy.

We have been a patron of this restaurant for many years and we've noticed that the katsu and rice are getting less and less each time we order the lunch specials. In the early days, the meat/katsu would cover the bento section for it (just like the photo on the menu for the lunch menu) but now it's just rice with 5 or 6 small and thin strips of breaded meat.

They also serve green tea that they've bought from the nearby Coles which is a bit disappointing. Not sure if Kokoro is still being run by the Arirang mob but I've noticed that the waitstaff and kitchen are now fresh faces which would account for their falling standards.

Best sushi I've ever eaten. I can't believe how fresh this place is.

User

Not the cheapest of eateries, but consistent high quality Japanese food.
Menu hasnt changed in a few years but still same high quality.
Reservations I would recommend

Great food but a little noisy sometimes. They play their music too loud and have to sound absorbtion on the walls or ceiling.

So i goggled 'best ramen in Canberra' and kokoro popped up. It want a very nice ramen, but the service was very friendly and inviting.

Ive eaten here before and was pleased and will try again as would like to do the set menu another night.

Some of the most melt-in-your-mouth unagi I have ever wrapped my lips around. Atmosphere is OK, service pretty good but its the FOOD that makes this place. Maybe some j-pop or japanese folk music might change the ambience, Robbie Williams and his early naughties easy listening English pop cohorts warrants one-star-detraction.

User

Wonderful experience, kitchen staff always drop what they are doing to say hello and goodbye. The owner is really passionate and lovely.
