Lord'S Taverners Act Description
The Lord’s Taverners ACT is a charity which is dedicated to helping young people play cricket when they might otherwise not have the opportunity to do so.
The Lord's Taverners was formed in 1949 by a group of theatrical personalities who used to enjoy watching cricket from the old tavern at the home of cricket, Lord’s.
The Lord's Taverners has branches in all States and Territories of Australia and Australia-wide, we have about 2000 members. The ACT Branch was established in April 1986.
We have in common a love of cricket and a desire to raise money to support cricket and other sports at all levels, but especially juniors and disadvantaged and /or handicapped children.
We raise money for coaching, practice facilities, equipment and competitions.
The children we assist may also be disadvantaged by virtue of financial constraints or geographical challenges.
Funds raised at our events and through our raffles are used to support youth cricket in Canberra.
We aim to distribute more than $50, 000 every year.
