MND Australia is the national peak advocate for people living with MND. Together with our network of state MND associations we advance, promote and influence MND care and research, with a vision to achieving a world without MND.

Currently over 2, 000 Australians are living with Motor Neurone Disease, and thousands more are affected as their carers, family and friends. MND is a progressive neurological disease. Its cause is unknown and currently there is no cure.

While some people can live a long time with MND, the majority of people only live 2 to 3 years from diagnosis.

Despite its wide impact, MND has a relatively low profile in Australia. MND Australia promotes and supports MND care and research at a national level. We advocate for those affected, provide information and raise awareness of this devastating disease.

We work closely with the six state MND associations who provide direct care for people living with MND and their families. Our state associations ensure that all Australians affected by MND have access to the support they need. You can find details of your state or territory MND association on the MND Australia website.

The key to a world without MND lies in research that will uncover its cause and seek out treatments. Importantly, MND Australia allocates vital research grants for MND research in Australia.
