The prodigal son returns. Introducing Elliot, a Canberra native and a true gentleman who has returned from his wanderings to take lead position in the MG kitchen. With an eye for the unusual and a wickedly creative mind, we are seeing some exciting things come across the pass.

We are wrapped to get a nod in this years Australian Gourmet Traveller 2019 restaurant guide ahead of our opening on 10 September. A shout out to our older sister XO who was recognised in the number 2 spot in this years ACT list. Top honours for the old girl.

We were about to drop the hottest tape of 2018 before Drake came along. We will have to settle for a new Canberra daylight dining venue instead. Meet the MGeez.

Faces behind MG. Daniel and Duke from Toby’s Estate - two bona fide coffee wizards at the very top of their game. We are fortunate to have spent the past week with D&D and the rest of the Toby's Estate Coffee team chatting coffee and assembling brand spanking new equipment in MG. These cats truly are on a different level when it comes to the coffee bean and we have only just scratched the surface of their knowledge.

Mornings on the deck. We are lucky to have inherited a very special part of our city, including an amazing courtyard garden boasting an array of Australian natives and perennials. If anything can justify moving the international limit for acceptable day drinking back a few hours, this is it.

Behind every great man (or venue) is a brilliant graphic designer and oracle of all things creative. We are honoured not only to have the great Scott Ketley from Swell Design Group create a stunning visual identity for MG (and XO for that matter), but to count him as a close friend. So from all of us, thank you.

A new change, against a familiar horizon. We are humbled to be developing a life-long dream within NewActon Precinct – an area steeped in history and flanked by some of Canberra’s most recognisable natural and built landmarks, old and new.

We are thrilled to have reunited with Aaron Copeland, principal designer and general artist druid at Capezio Copeland to bring our vision for MG to life. Aaron and his team delivered something truly special with XO – reflected in its shortlisting for best restaurant design in the Eat Drink Design Award – and is a great guy to boot.
When it came to go to the drawing board for MG, he was the natural choice.

What’s in a name?
Traditionally, life in the restaurant game is led after midday. Long twilights, late nights under the lights of the kitchen. Daylight hours become compressed and habits once held dear relegated to memory.
Morning Glory is our way of re-discovering the quirks of culture, ritual and nostalgia connected to our morning meals with a focus on high-quality, locally sourced produce.

One of the most rewarding aspects of starting a new venture has been reconnecting with some of Canberra’s brightest minds and creative hands. Here we are deep in the process of discussing design elements with Aaron, one half of the powerhouse that is Capezio Copeland at XO HQ.

Construction is in full swing at Morning Glory. Before we look too far to the future, we wanted to acknowledge the history within these four walls that dates back to the very beginnings of our national capital, through to its most recent trustee A. BAKER

Our stars aligned earlier this year and we are honoured to take over the reins at a phenomenal space in the heart of NewActon Precinct previously occupied by Canberra stalwart A. BAKER.
This incredible venue gives us the opportunity to bring you the same energy and approach of our first love, XO, to breakfast and lunch.
