What a stunning place. Great variety of art works displayed in a really tastefully designed, beautiful building. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent free displays and attracts interesting paid exhibitions. The collection of indigenous art is impressive.

It’s an amazing place for all ages but especially, for kids to get familiar with their ancestors’ history. There is a specifically designed gallery for Aboriginal displaying their daily used items. Kids can also enjoy modern world interacting games where parents can also be partners to support overall team scores. Ancient mechanical gadgets are well preserved in their original shapes. A huge lobby, waiting area with coffee shop welcomes visitors while the rest is experience. Outdoor is as aesthetically strong as indoor. A good place to spend time in learning with peace of mind.

Aside from the art collection which is very good, this building by Australian architect Col Madigan is an absolute delight and worth visiting just to wander through and around. The outside sculpture garden is an added bonus. Friendly staff, guided talks and catalogues available. Good shop selling carfs and, books and gifts and smallish cafe. Paid parking during the week.

A national treasure. Brilliant place to visit, even if you're a local/have seen it before. Recently went to go to the 'Hyperreal' exhibition, which was incredible.

It's free to visit most of the galleries - need to buy tickets to come along to the traveling exhibitions, though I've always found them very worthwhile.

Great variety of art work. Lovely building and venue. Exits and information on displays are poorly sign posted. Helpful staff.

Excellent no hassle visit. There was no over the top security & the paintings are interesting with some famous works. Friendly staff & the restaurant though basic is fine.

Beautiful artworks. Definitely worth seeing the famous Blue Poles and Claude Monet's water lillies. If you are not a fan of walking then this is not the place for you but all in all definitely worth the visit.

A world class gallery. I love visiting the permanent collection at the National Gallery which is as thoughtful in its range as it is extensive. I love meandering through the beautiful building and as entry is free I know I can skip over parts without feeling like I'm not getting value for my visit. It's a bit of a family tradition but I always end each visit with a light meal in the excellent restaurant. The new acquisition of the Ned Kelly series is a must see.

The National Gallery of Australia houses a wonderful collection of artworks from Australia and around the world. A majority of the gallery space is devoted to modern art (20th Century). The building itself is fairly austere concrete, but the interiors are bright and imaginatively curated. Outdoor sculptures also abound.

A "must see" attraction in Canberra. A good collection of international and Australian art including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands art. And don't forget to see the Sculpture Garden out by the lake.
