Tremendous exhibition 'Songlines' Grateful to the contributors and curators. Will have to go back to see more of the displays of the museum. Allow plenty of time to visit.

Fantastic and modern museum! Love its architecture, particularly the inside walls and ceilings: incredibilly asymmetric. Great place to know about Australian history.

User

We loved our visit. We went to see the Lego Exhibition unfortunately we didn't book but we were able to get into the 12.15 pm time slot. An enjoyable visit.

Car parking available but best to be early. Public and tour buses to door. Large and interesting collection. A grand entry but wastes a lot of space. Some areas experience difficulty of movement as they can congest easily if people stop and chat. Some extra seating would be welcome as moving slowly through involves a lot of standing which can be quite tiring.

The architecture of this building is amazing! Free entry, and great history to look at, from Melbourne's history to Sydney's history to the architecture itself! I highly recommend this place for all travellers in Canberra.

We went to.the museum cafe for breakfast and it was fantastic as always. The staff are fantastic, the food is a luxury everytime. I think they do the best poached eggs on toast in Canberra!!!

The museum is great... Well worth a visit, ending at the cafe of course!!

User

The museum is great to bring people visiting Canberra. For return visitors, there are plenty of stories and details that you don't catch the first time around.

Also, their temporary exhibitions are always worth the entry fee.

User

This museum is amazing on the inside and out. The building is amazing to see as you come over the bridge from either direction. Inside is a great combination of natural history and built environment. Great fun and a visually beautiful way to learn about some of Australia's culture and past. Definitely a great place for kids too. They volunteers at the front desk are great to talk to and have heaps of info about the museum and about Canberra, in general.

Depending on what you're into this might be amazing or mediocre. Very casual, spread out museum. Cafe is overpriced but good food.

User

It was very interesting, my sister and i enjoyed watching the film of war and the fuzzy wuzzies and learned it won a oscar. We really enjoyed that. Pricing for drinks and food was ridiculous and my grand niece got the smallest piece of cake size of my finger cost 5.80 never eat their crazy prices. That annoyed us.

User

VR experience David Attenborough movie is phenomenal! Loved it.

User

I didn't feel there was a lot in the museum. Also, struggled to get a full story from the exhibitions

It’s International Cat Day, and there’s none more meow-gnificent than Matthew Flinders’ cat, and pat-able Museum resident, Trim.
Described by Flinders as ‘the best and most illustrious of his race’, Trim circumnavigated the Australian coast and survived falling overboard, shipwreck and imprisonment.
Today we pay tribute to this finest of felines. #CatDay

Usually started with a flip of a coin, today it’s commemorated by one. #OnThisDay students from Scotch College and Church of England Grammar played one of the first organised games of Australian Rules football.

Crossing the Nullarbor Plain, the Trans-Australian Railway line stretches 1693 kilometres from Port Augusta to Kalgoorlie. Eventually, all good runs come to an end. And so does our exhibit celebrating this feat of engineering. Come and see it one last time before it departs on Friday. bit.ly/NMA_dmtar

One of Australia’s best-known artists, Albert (Elea) Namatjira, was born #OnThisDay in 1902. His work blended Aboriginal and European techniques but always featured his beloved country. His paintings hung on the walls of many Australian homes, bringing the outback to the suburbs. He’s immortalised here in a work by Judith Inkamala of the Hermannsburg Potters. bit.ly/NMA_en

For more than 200 years the merino sheep has been flourishing in Australian conditions. Its wool is one of this nation’s major exports.
One record-breaking haul came from local sheep, Chris. The world’s woolliest sheep was rescued by RSPCA ACT and Chris became a national and international star. bit.ly/NMA_fleece

Undoubtedly one of the highlights of ‘The Souq – A Festival of Culture’ was The Bearded Bakers and their mouth-watering desserts. Yesterdays’ festival marked the last day of ‘So That You Might Know Each Other’: Faith and Culture in Islam and was a sweet swansong to the exhibition.

To be honest. It’s maybe one of the most disappointing museums I have been too. For some reason I expected it to be more than any other state version. Found the displays disorganised compared to others. Found a few things in the history section I haven’t read or heard of before. Free to get in but expensive parking
