New Zealand Trade and Export Growth Minister David Parker met today in Auckland with his Australian counterpart Trade, Tourism and Investment Minister Steven Ciobo MP. Bilateral, regional and global trade issues were on the agenda.
The Ministers also launched a joint study by the New Zealand and Australian Productivity Commissions into growing the trans Tasman digital economy and maximising opportunities for SMEs - one of the key commitments made by PMs Jacinda Ardern and Malcolm Turnbull at the 2018 A/NZ Leaders' Meeting.

It was wonderful for our High Commission and Consul-General staff to meet Maori and Aboriginal elders, Liverpool City Council Australia representatives and the enthusiastic organisers of the recent Kapa Haka Extravaganza in Sydney.

Our NZ Defence Force Adviser, Air Commodore Ian Mower attended the official opening ceremony of the new interactive ANZAC memorial trail “Walk with the Anzacs - Gallipoli to Armistice” in Maryborough, Queensland.
Air Commodore Mower said “it was a great privilege to represent the NZDF at the opening ceremony and this monument is a real credit to the Maryborough Community and did justice to the memory and sacrifice of our WWI ANZAC generation.”

There's still two more weeks to come and check out the world's largest knitted Kiwi at the National Arboretum Canberra. Here's Christina Brears from our NZ Defence Force team with Arboretum tour guide Anna celebrating a job well done after helping to put knitted scarves on this colourful Kiwi.

Our High Commissioner Chris Seed recently had the opportunity to tour Australia’s impressive National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre in Darwin. The centre works closely with New Zealand in responding to disasters and emergencies in our region.

Sleeping on the job? Starting the weekend early? Or taking a quick nap before the Hurricanes take on Chiefs Rugby tonight at Westpac Stadium? Whatever the case, High Commissioner Chris Seed better not need his briefcase in a hurry...ratter Malone is well settled in.

Wonderful to see Maori culture being shared across Australia - this time in Melbourne. Thanks to Ngā Whetū a Hawaiki and TVNZ 1 for this story.

Those visiting the National Arboretum Canberra for Warm Trees were treated to a fabulous rendition of the Haka by our wonderful Tumanako Maori Cultural Group.
The Group has been running “New Zealand education sessions” during “Warm Trees” at the Arboretum.
This is the last week to catch the world’s largest knitted Kiwi, called ‘Mahana’ on the hill at the Arboretum and our Matariki (Maori New Year) exhibition inside the village centre.

We've been pleased to support innovative and sustainable Kiwi designer Melanie Child at Fashfest over the last two years. In yet another trans-tasman collaboration local filmmaker David Jenkins from Ghetto Media has produced this video about New Zealand's involvement in the event which includes an interview with High Commissioner Chris Seed.

2017 Te Matatini Society Incorporated champions Whāngārā Mai Tawhiti performing at the Kapa Haka Extravaganza at the Whitlam Leisure Centre.

It was great to be able to support the Otago Boys' High School on a beautiful Canberra morning for the Kanga Cup. Well done to the boys on a marvellous 1-0 win in the U15 Cup Final.
The boys were undefeated during the competition and scored 32 goals and conceded just three. It’s a wonderful effort for the only Kiwi team in the competition. The result should give New Zealand Football fans reason to celebrate in what is FIFA World Cup finals week.

Cats are like commas, best in pairs! High Commission ratters Jackson and Malone appear to be enjoying each other’s company. If High Commissioner Chris Seed ever has a bad night’s sleep...we now know why.

We'll be thrilled to welcome 2017 Te Matatini Society Incorporated champions Whāngārā Mai Tawhiti to the Kapa Haka Extravaganza this Saturday at the Whitlam Leisure Centre in Sydney, Australia from 10.30am.
