Northside Family Dental

I am really happy with my choice as this was my first dentist visit here and got my dental work done on the weekend, this place did not charge me extra price being a Saturday like other dental practices do. Reasonable rates, it was really worth the money spent!

Very impressed, the Dentists at Northside Family Dental are thoroughly professional who are great awesome good Dentists in gungahlin who have proved to offer honest non biased service and suggesting what is apt for one’s oral health. I was suggested to have an Occlusal splint made to address my teeth grinding which I had ignored all the while over 3 years and later now strongly feel that I should have taken their suggestion on board in the first place as my ignorance led to multiple deterioration of my teeth costing me more overall in fillings. I have seen three different dentists here and I must say my experience with northside family dental of Gungahlin was truly amazing, these are the best dentists in Canberra & 5 stars for these guys with flying colours.

My review of this Dental is based on almost 2 years of patronage for myself and my children over a variety of services from basic check ups and cleans to more strategic surgery. Positives first - Nice, new and clean establishment and Dr Shilpa Kalburgi is a very friendly dentist who seems quite caring.
The negatives, however in my situation, heavily outweigh the positives. From the moment I met Dr Shilpa, I informed her I needed support for my already stressed and highly sensitive teeth and she agreed. After over a year of extreme sensitivity and failed surgeries, not to mention calling the receptionist/practice manager crying in pain from the top of my head to the bottom of my neck, I undertook a 2nd AND 3rd opinion. The results were horrifying: MISREAD/MISTAKEN X-RAYS, FAILURE TO FIND DECAY 'HALO', FAILURE TO DETECT BONE LOSS, FAILURE TO UNDERTAKE PROBLEM WISDOM TOOTH REMOVAL WHEN NECESSARY, POOR FILLING REPLACEMENT AND NO PROS/CONS EXPLANATION OF INVASIVE SURGERIES (POORLY CONDUCTED) THAT WERE NOT NECESSARY AND SHOULD ONLY BE USED AS A LAST RESORT.

$$$ Hundreds and hrs/days/weeks of pain later, I may still possibly look at more expensive surgery down the track to rectify going to this surgery and the only refund given covered insurance as I'm still out of pocket almost $500. Dr Shilpa has proved she is not very experienced in slightly more complicated procedures and has not cared about the pain she has caused in various unnecessary and costly procedures. No matter how much I explained my pain and discomfort, they were not willing to listen but I was told "Just come back in..." No, thank you Northside Family Dental.

This is the absolute worst place I have ever been!
Both the receptionist AND the dentist (husband and wife) are terrible! Been there several times and every time has been an hour long of waiting time! And the receptionist is the rudest human being alive! He treats clients like ATM machines, demanding payment and giving terrible appointment times!
Making an appointment is totally useless because walk ins are always ‘emergency’ cases that need to be seen first.

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF.

I was there for an appointment because my usual dentist was overseas, terrible decision. I was there for all of 10 minutes, they took an x-ray and charged me for an entire checkup which they did not do whatsoever, then charged me for a referral. I have never heard of, nor any dentist that I have asked, has ever charged $30 to send an email to a specialist.

The receptionist was rude, was more interested in talking on the phone than actually talking. Wouldn't look up from his screen or look at me in the eye. Basically, even though I was the only person there, I waited and dealt with the receptionist longer than the entire appointment.

In regards to the comment underneath, there was no interaction, was not told to take a seat, and had no idea whether or not I had to stay or leave. The customer service was a complete joke. Maybe instead of calling a customer's feedback as "one's misconceptions & frustration", think about how you talk and help people who are paying for your services.

Do not go here, save your money and go to anywhere else. Easily the worst dental practice in my experience.

I went to another dentist the following day and had the tooth removed which they stated "was challenging but definitely nothing unusual or in the range of a competent dentist". The charge wasn't much more than the cost of this appointment.

Say it one more time: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

I just wanted to say Dr Emma offered excellent & friendly service, explained all the procedure in detail and was genuinely concerned for patient comfort. I would highly recommend.

Actually the worst dental experience of my life. I will stick to my regular dentist who at least knows how to manage people with pain. Hint: it is not leaving them sitting in a waiting room for over an hour! Appalling.

Emma is really nice, she was great about the fact I hadn't been to the dentist in a while, and the prices are good.
