Wonderful breakfast with my family visiting my son (who is a regular). Thank you for making us feel so welcome and for the great breakfasts which are real value for money - we'll be back next time we are in Canberra!

Great place. Food is excellent at a fantastic price. Servings are generous and by far the best value for money in Canberra. Service is always friendly and it is my #1 preference when I go out.

I have recommended this place to people visiting Canberra and they loved it. "Their breakfast set [them] up for the rest of the day".

I only wished I lived closer so I could go more often.

Some of the worst service i've ever experienced. I never write reviews because i think it's a waste of time but people have to know about this.

UPDATE: thanks for the owners response , all we asked is to change poached eggs to scrambled , pretty sure every other cafe in the world to handle that , and I didn't yell at your son I simply suggested that you guys might want to change your policy to which he rolled his eyes at me . But it's ok you don't have to deal with my unreasonable requests and I do t have to deal with your service anymore. :)

Such a shame one of my favourite cafes , I asked if I could change the eggs on the veggie Praga and I got a blank stare saying they couldn't when I asked why they said that's just how it is and walked off won't be back

Tasteless and disappointing, with attitude!

I ordered from the menu a chicken, avocado, swiss cheese toasted turkish bread roll/sandwich. The order stated it came with mayonnaise but I asked for aioli instead, which the waiter informed me would not be a problem.

When my order arrived, it had carrot, cucumber and lettuce on it. Now I like these salad ingredients, but the menu did not state it had these on it. If I was having it fresh, it wouldn't have been a problem, but I was having it toasted.. Have you ever eaten warm lettuce or wet cucumber? It is not very nice at all.

While eating the first half (minus the lettuce & cucumber), I noticed it was very flavourless.. I pulled back the turkish bread lid and there was no evidence, either to the eye or palate of any aioli. So I asked the waiter if he had remembered to swap the mayo for the ailoi, he meekly said that he did. Then another waitress came over and quite abruptly asked me "what the problem was". I explained that I could not see nor taste the aioli (when the chicken is dry, this moisture is a must). She curtly told me it was on there and I asked for her to point it out (was I going blind?). The chef then came out (I know right, all over aioli - wouldn't you just take the plate away, put more aioli on and apologise?) and again told me that there was aioli on it - I was dumbfounded! Anyway waitress 2 then gave me the whole container of aioli and told me I could put it on myself - charming.

Once the aioli was on my roll, I could see what the problem was. It was completely flavourless. Like completely. No wonder I couldn't taste it! And the bread must have absorbed it which is why I couldn't see it.

In the end, I just didn't even want to eat the second half. The chicken (it was either roast or barbequed, then shredded) was dry, I had soggy warm lettuce and zero flavour PLUS attitude.

Seeing as Marble & Grain and Hudson's are so close by, I'd be giving this place (and their defensiveness) a miss. So disappointing.

UPDATE:

Thank you owner/chef/waiter or whoever it is that has responded to my review. You have just demonstrated your attitude problem for all to see.

For the record, not once was I arrogant. I was a polite paying customer (could have walked out without paying) and even commented on your vast array of shnitzel options - surely you remember this or are you simply trying to portray me as something I am not? Either way, I am a customer (haven't you been trained to treat the customer as if they are always right?) and you are the business owner. I think your defensive response reflects more poorly upon you and your business than it does on me. I'll happily take my money elsewhere :-)

You'd think a business owner/manager and adult can accept constructive criticism that would help his business, obviously not. Maybe spend less time defending your cafe online and work towards creating a better dining experience for your customers? Just an idea..
