This week the state of Victoria voted against the use of sound moderators on firearms. Sound moderators, or sound suppressors, Do not silence firearms as Hollywood often portrays. What they do is reduce the felt recoil, and reduce the need for hearing protection. This enables shooters to remain on target and accurately place follow-up shots, while limiting noise pollution. This is better for the shooter, and also assists in the humane dispatch of the hunter’s, or pest controllers prey.
