Expensive AND didn't do the work. Took the car to a more reputable mechanic in Gungahlin about one month after having the car "serviced" with a wheel alignment at City Car Care.

The more reputable mechanic said our car would need a service within a month and that it needed a wheel alignment - both of these things had allegedly been done by City Car Care and the car had been driven on about 3 trips of 10 or so km since then (it's our 2nd car).

Also - as many other reviewers have noted - expensive quote for other work that they didnt perform ($500 plus labour) vs cheaper quote elsewhere ($340 incl labour).

Look elsewhere.

I would have liked to have used them for my vehicle but after taking the morning off work their sole inspector was off sick (was told only 30 minutes before the appointment). Should have looked at the reviews below!

Checked in to investigate an oil leak (chose City Car Care purely for convenience sake). I got charged $72.00 for inspection and $100 to clean the engine bay. Then they quoted me $750 to change the oil pressure switch (location of oil leak). I called another mechanic and was quoted less than $200 to fix it!

Just sharing my experience, you can be your own judge!

Update - took my car to the other mechanic and they found that the oil leak is not from the oil pressure switch!! My view is that not only City Car Care charges an exorbitant price but also they are misdiagnose problems. So, if I had went with the advice and paid the $750, it wouldn't have fix anything!!

Got quoted $50 for a tyre plug so I walked away. Hate to think what they charge for more complex repairs

My car broke down while passing through Canberra and needed to be repaired. Once the car had been towed to the garage, City Care Care were very fast in assessing what needed to be done and gave a frank and honest quote. They were then able to repair the vehicle (which needed a new radiator, radiator hoses and a fan belt) within the same day so we could be on our way without too much delay!
My only criticism would be that I needed to call to check on the progress of repairs rather than them calling me first. Overall an excellent speedy service!

Biggest rip-offs ive ever encountered. Did unnecessary overpriced work. Had to go to another mechanics to fix their mistakes. Was told they replaced parts that didn't need replacing with inferior quality parts that were installed incorrectly.

I took my car there for a rego check last year, when I picked it up I was told by the receptionist that the seat belts 'were faulty', not seeing anything wrong the girl told me the belts had cancer and pointed to a couple of blemishes on the belt but nothing that would affect the performance, I went to the NRMA and they agreed with me saying the belts were fine....
Same old story, arguing with them was pointless, I replaced the belts (at great cost) and got them to retest and pass. I used to go there for all my services etc. but won't set foot in there again.
