Dear Members and Supporters of Scouts ACT Branch I wish to inform you that the funeral for Pat Barrett, beloved wife of ACT Honorary Commissioner, Peter Barrett, will be held this Monday 27 August at the Chapel of Norwood Park Crematorium at 12 noon. As a mark of respect for Pat, a long-time supporter of both Scouts and Guides, you are invited to wear uniform and decorations if appropriate. On this week in 1973 - Scouting and Guiding members took part in a Walkathon that raised $12,000 for a “Scout camp on the Murrumbidgee River and a training caravan for Guide Leaders” according to The Canberra Times. The 2,000 Scouting members walked an adage of 14 miles each (nearly 30 kilometres).
