About Swimming Wombat Photographics

Our Story

Our names are Christine and Mitchell, we share a passion for photography and have 14 years of combined experience. This passion drives us to capture images that best represent us, what we love doing and the world around us. Based in Canberra, Australia, we provide a suite of photographic services specifically tailored to suit your needs, including portraiture and event photography. We love working in all photographic genres, just get in touch to find out how we can help you.

We have a soft spot for underwater and wildlife images. This evolved from our background in marine biology. While learning about the underwater world we developed a strong desire to share what we find. We are both keen SCUBA divers and have expanded our skills into underwater photography. This lets us share the environments and animals we encounter with anyone we can.

We hope you enjoy the images and stories we share.

Our Vision

To provide high quality photographic services, with a reputation built on our unique skills and passion for all things photographic.

Why Swimming Wombat?

It’s a little-known fact that wombats can swim. When rivers dare to get in their way, wombats take the direct route. This stubborn, dogged attitude inspired our name and reflects our own determination to provide high quality services and images. A swimming wombat also links to our interest in the aquatic world and Australia’s unique animals, some of the many things we love photographing.

QUOLL!!!! We had the privilege of photographing field work for the fantastic @belspryte at @mulligansflat. This spotty lady is Frost, an Eastern quoll and 1st time mum to 3 adorable pups. Frost is being released back into her den after having her tracking collar removed.
Eastern quolls have been extinct on mainland Australia for around 50 years. To have them reintroduced at #mulligansflat sanctuary is an incredible example of the work being done in Mulligans.

Kristi from @mulligansflat tagging one of their resident echidnas as part of the annual echidna sweep. The colourful straws are glued in place to identify the echidnas in future surveys, they fall off leaving the echidna unharmed, but maybe a little sad they're not as colourful.
