About The 50/50 By 2030 Foundation

The 50 /50 by 2030 Foundation is a new research based gender equality initiative established by the Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis (IGPA), at the University of Canberra, Australia. It was launched in September 2017 by the Minister for Women, Senator The Hon Michaela Cash, and Foundation Patron Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO at Old Parliament House, Canberra. Backed by world class research expertise, we aim to develop evidence based theory and leading practice on the role of women in strengthening public administration and improving governance and national well-being. We delight in partnership and collaboration. And we excel in innovative program design. Our bespoke training modules; seminars, and events aim to challenge the prevailing discourse around women, power and public leadership. As such, the 50 /50 Foundation will be a rich resource for local, national and international governments; political parties; public sector and civil service administrations, in supporting their efforts to achieve gender parity in leadership by the year 2030. The 50 /50 by 2030 Foundation builds on the Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis's strong track record of research and advocacy on gender equality issues and is led by Adjunct Professor Virginia Haussegger AM. The Foundation is supported by a formidable network of men and women whose contribution to public service excellence is exemplary, and who provide inspiration through their unique and dedicated styles of leadership. Our advisory council includes Dr Martin Parkinson PSM (Secretary of Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet), Glenys Beauchamp PSM (Secretary of the Department of Health), Meredith Edwards AM, Adj Prof Carmel McGregor PSM, Jane Halton AO PSM, and Wendy McCarthy AO, David Morrison AO, Natasha Stott Despoja AM, Menna Rawlings CMG, Dr Helen Sykes AM, George Megalogenis, and Michelle Guthrie. The 50 /50 Foundation is also backed by a impressive and growing team of Academic Associates.
