Today our Jarrah nest attended the West Belconnen Children and Family Centre (WBCFC) to celebrate Indigenous Literacy Day.
In collaboration with Libraries ACT, Uniting Care Kippax, Belconnen Community Services, WBCFC and YMCA Holt, we came together to share activities to celebrate Indigenous culture, stories, language and literary.

Yesterday we celebrated Early Childhood Educators Day with our amazing team!
Team Holt, each and every one of you are unique and bring something extremly special to Holt. You all should be super proud of yourselves as educators and we are very lucky to have you all working with us.

The #ChildrenFirstAlliance welcomes the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government’s announcement that it will develop a plan for the extension of universal access of early education to three year old children in the ACT. The ACT Government should be congratulated for leading the way in planning for the introduction of free universal access of early childhood education to three year old children. YMCA Holt’s intergenerational playgroup with a local aged care facility has developed over the last 12 months into a beautiful project where extreme mixed age interactions and relationships are valued and celebrated! Every week the children visit their elderly friends and play- face to face and shoulder to shoulder - heart warming and precious! ❤️💎 #ymcacanberra #intergenerationalplaygroup #mixedageinteractions

Happy International Yoga Day! Here are some dedicated educators staying back after work to do yoga together. It’s very important to look after your health and wellbeing when you are giving so much of yourself physically, socially, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually all day everyday as an early childhood educator! YMCA Holt ELC was invited to collaborate with Kippax Library, Kippax Uniting Church, Belconnen Community Service and West Belconnen Child and Family Centre in planning and participating in the ‘Tracks to Reconciliation’ local community event! We followed the emu tracks as we moved around the community listening to stories, painting, moving, drawing, eating fruit and sausage sizzle, and having a ride on the bus singing the wombat wobble!
