About 13Sick, National Home Doctor Service

13SICK, Australia's largest network of after hours, bulk billing, home visiting doctors.

13Sick, National Home Doctor Service Description

13SICK is a service that provides urgent medical care to patients in the after hours. It is not a service for medical emergencies. If symptoms are critical or life-threatening, you should call triple zero (000) or go straight to hospital.

Nor does 13SICK treat requests for routine medical care. All routine medical treatment, such as prescription repeats, immunisations, referrals, check ups or chronic disease management, should be handled by your GP.

All Doctor home visits are bulk billed for patients will a Medicare or Gold DVA card. Our service currently operates in all capital cities (Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide) and in many regional areas around Australia. To confirm our coverage areas, simply use the suburb locator on our website (www. 13SICK.com. au)

Our Doctors treat common, acute conditions such as respiratory infections, migraines, gastro, ear infections, fevers, urinary tract infections, and injuries from falls: conditions that, while not life-threatening, require urgent medical attention.

During the consultation, the Doctor may decide that the patient requires medication. All our Doctors carry a Doctor’s bag stocked with starter packs of various medications, so if needed, the patient can get started on the treatment straight away.

After the home visit, 13SICK send our Doctor’s medical report through to the patient’s nominated GP, so they are kept in the loop. This is important to maintain continuity of care, because your family GP knows your medical history, and is the best person to manage the ongoing health of you and your family.

Sometimes called 'the kissing disease', glandular fever is a debilitating viral infection that mainly strikes young people. Extreme fatigue, and symptoms similar to the flu, mean that it can be difficult to diagnose. https://homedoctor.com.au/…/glandular-f ever-a-most-miserabl…

Shingles, also know as ‘zoster virus’ or ‘herpes zoster’, is caused by the same virus responsible for chicken pox. It is a skin rash than can be very painful, occurring mainly but not exclusively amongst older adults in the population. It is not understood exactly why, but the chicken pox virus, which lies dormant in all of us who have had chicken pox, will suddenly reactivate in some people for an ‘encore’. And for some people, it can be an extremely uncomfortable and painful encore. https://homedoctor.com.au/…/shingles-wh en-chicken-pox-comes…

In winter, respiratory illnesses are on the rise - and a very common illness in young children is croup. The barking cough and hoarse breathing can be alarming for parents and patients alike.https://homedoctor.com.au/…/what- is-croup-and-how-to-treat-…

Most people mistakenly believe that antibiotics will cure their cold or flu, and help them recover more quickly. Antibiotics are seen as a 'magic medicine', and a trip to the doctor that doesn't result in a script for antibiotics is often seen as a waste of time. Hence, doctors are under enormous pressure to prescribe antibiotics, even though they know it will have little effect against the viruses which cause colds and flu. In winter, the community braces for an onset of infectious illnesses - coughs, colds, flu, gastro, skin complaints and eye infections. But as the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure... and the number one way to prevent getting sick this winter is the simple act of washing your hands. https://homedoctor.com.au/…/the-best-wa y-to-keep-illness-at…

In Australia every year, it is estimated that up to four million people will contract influenza. It causes countless absentee days from work and school. The 2017 influenza season saw the highest levels of activity since 2009 and resulted in an estimated 29,000 confirmed influenza hospital admissions. https://bit.ly/2J2nBPV

I had the worst migraine, I have ever had before.

Being a sole parent my 15yr old son was concerned and called Dr.

After waiting a total of 3hrs on a Tuesday night, one and half hours later then text message advised. Dr arrived, stood at my bedroom door told me I need to get up and sit at kitchen table. Then tells me, to go to hospital by ambulance and left. The visit was less then 5 mins.

He was gone before I could make a phone call.

Very unhappy with Doctors manner and time we had to wait.
