1inFive… is the staggering statistic that is the number of people in our society that have been, or will be sexually assaulted before the age of eighteen.
1inFive was established by Kevin Whitley, a survivor of Child Sexual Assault, to support other victims of this crime, particularly children and to raise awareness of this scourge on our society, and to raise money via charity events and fund raisers to support charities such as Bravehearts. This year, 1inFive has entered a team in the Bravehearts 777 marathon challenge called The Ripple Effect and together with team co-founder Margaret Melkie and other brave competitors we are running to raise money to enable Bravehearts to continue their work in support of victims and education programs for children.
The Ripple Effect is about offering hope and encouragement to victims of CSA and demonstrating that the smallest of steps or actions can create ripples that form a Tsunami of change.
