223 ACU Dining in Night held at the Historic Hydro, Leeton, NSW 4th July 2018
100th Anniversary of the Battle of Hamel Dining In Night hosted by 223 ACU. What an incredible evening! A special thank you to our special guests: Brigadier Ashleigh - Commander Australian Army Cadets, The Honourable Sussan Ley - Federal Member for Farrer and Austin Evans MP - State member for Murray. To host an event on such an important occasion, to remember the success and signifance of the battle and pay respects to those who fought and those who never came home was a tremendous honour. In 93 minutes an Australian General, Australian and American soldiers changed modern warfare forever. Congratulations and thank you to all cadets, parents and carers, other guests and staff for your support. Stand tall ... walk proud.

Congratulations to our recruits who Passed off the Square and transitioned to Cadets infront of family and friends. You should all be proud of yourselves ... we are!
Congratulations also to Ella on your promotion to LCPL. Well deserved.
Good luck to everyone in all your cadets careers - looking forward to a long future together.

Ex Gold Rush 2018 ... this is the fifth year we've been 'hunting gold in them there hills'! Great way to spend the long weekend: started in the rain which caught quite a few cadets out on Friday night, followed by incredibly bright and mild winter weather. Great skills and learnt lots ... I hope!! Well done to 4 Section for winning the Golden Brick 2018

2013 Great and dusty memories!! ... 5 years ago and so much changes! Some grow up ... some never do!! Haha! More years and cringes to follow ...

16 senior cadets became 1st Aid qualified! This is a life skill that I hope you never have to use, but the odds say I am wrong!! Really proud so many of you made the effort.

Ex Winter Rose 2018 ... this was a first for us, Kosciuszko at -5°c and cadets going strong! It was a brilliant first occasion to see what is possible and we learn heaps. Carrying 20kg packs, self sufficient, -5°c in our hootchies (not using the huts!!) - it was an outstanding weekend for the senior cadets who braved it. We covered 22km, the nights and dawns were bitterly cold, the days stunningly beautiful and crisp. Looking forward to an even bigger and more challenging 2019 for those who dare!! Thank you as always to staff - Kerri, Tracey and Brenton for making it possible - can't do it without you!!

Rotary Conference 2018 ... a huge thank you to the cadets, staff (especially Kerri) and Mums who helped us deliver an incredible community event to 180 Rotarians. The morning tea and lunch were impeccable - you heard the feedback and should all be very proud. We were able to raise enough money from this event to pay for every cadet in the unit to attend our upcoming Dining In Night - a massive achievement and will be appreciated by every family. Walk tall, stand proud.

Another ANZAC Day Commemoration. 100th Anniversary year of end of WW1 so pretty special. Well done to all cadets (and thank you parents & carers for the very early start); for conducting the Catafalque Party at 4 parades today - pretty impressive and reason to be proud and walk tall. A great day and I hope these pictures give some idea of the significance of the day and your participation in it .... again, it's all about you.

Ex Compass Rose 2018 ... amazing, another year! This year was one of the best ... we even had rain! But the weather gods, despite the forecasts were kind again to us and we got off relatively lightly. Congratulations to the winners of the Emily Green Trophy - this was by far the hardest course we have ever set and you came up trumps with 12 out of 15 check points ... respect! And I am sorry ... I forgot the trophy but your rock looks great!!! I think we wore them out though with 2 days from walking around Long Plains ...

A HUGE and proud well done to the cadets providing the Catafalque Party for the Vietnam Veterans today. It is outstanding you give up your time to serve and remember Diggers past and present. The rain only made it more poignant ... WELL DONE AND THANK YOU!

Monthly Field training improved leaps and bounds yesterday with the inclusion of laser tag equipment. Suddenly, fieldcraft skills were vital to complete the mission ... and of course, they were incredible fun for the cadets. Saw all core values on display: Courage, Initiative, Teamwork and Respect. Great night of training everyone - one of the best!

AFX 2017 - we all had a great time this year in Singleton and we were lucky enough to get to use some cool army kit and weapons - even the laser tag was excellent. Well done everyone and hope you've enjoyed your well deserved rest
