Australian National Flag Day: 3 September. In 1901 it was the first time the Australian flag was flown. It was over the dome of the Exhibition Building in Melbourne. On that day Australia’s first Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Sir Edmund Barton, announced the winners of a competition to design a national flag for Australia. On Down Memory Lane this morning (10am-noon), let’s get all patriotic and listen to music recorded in Melbourne. Alas, not in 1901, but in the 1920s.
