Our vision is to democratise leadership & neuroscience. --The About my Brain Institute provides transformational leadership & wellbeing education to develop brain-friendly leaders, teams and cultures. We believe that democratising leadership and neuroscience and developing a new set of abilities based on neurobiology is critical for organisations to thrive in the future of work. There are three reasons why this is important: the first is to address the leadership skills shortage by ensuring that organisations have access to science-based skills development that can help attract and retain talent. The second is to help leaders sustain their wellbeing and capacity to adapt and perform as they face never-ending demands and continuous change. The third is to advance the future of the leadership development profession by training consultants in how to impement brain-friendly practices. We develop the human behind the leader with our neurobiology-based i4 Neuroleader™ Methodology, Assessment & Programs. We help organisations and their people become more conscious, productive, healthier and happier by awakening the capacity to think beyond self, act courageously and make compassionate choices. The Institute was founded in 2009 to inspire people to look at leadership through a new lens.

Our Intellectual Capital has been developed based on the projects and research undertaken by our Founder Silvia Damiano and her interdisciplinary team. This research took place over a period of several years, leading to significant achievements & multiple outcomes which now form the basis of our offering.

We noticed that the need for determined and proactive individuals who are self-led is on the rise.

People want to go to work and use their thinking and ideas to drive growth. At the same time, they understand that flexibility and brain-friendly environments are critical to support them in this new way of working, since thinking and ideas emerge from our brains after all.

Businesses, with a few exceptions, have not yet adapted to this new reality. Neither the mindsets or behaviours that can sustain it have been fostered or developed. There is still a clear mismatch between the way people now prefer to work and how business operate.

Asking only the leaders at the top of an organisation to change these mindsets and behaviours is no longer sufficient. They do not have the bandwidth or the time to be in charge at all times.

We have gone past the Industrial and the Information Ages sometime ago. Leadership has to be taught throughout the organisation so people can be in the best position to not only implement their ideas but also to collaborate with other to bring these ideas to fruition.

That is why we believe that democratising leadership and making people aware of how to apply the latest findings about brain optimisation is so critical for business success in the 21st Century.

We know that being the manager of a team, the CEO of an organisation or even an entrepreneur requires the person in charge to have a balanced and healthy brain & body so he or she can make the best decisions for the business and its people.

This is the basis of our proposition and the core of our i4 Neuroleader Model & Methodology, which we use to embed the new ways of thinking required to lead in the Imagination Age.

In this new era, leaders will have to become more knowledgeable and aware of their biology, of the human behind the leader. In addition, a leader needs to become an agile creator who can design the future as it emerges. This is a new leadership archetype which we like to refer to as the ‘Neuroleader’.
