Advanced CAD Mountain Bike Trail Design uses the latest technology to take trail planning to the next level. The process starts by using high resolution LiDAR ground models, while standard GIS systems ground models are made of 15-30m squares, mine are with 1m squares. This allows the trail to be plotted allot more accurately allowing for every small indentation and water course in the landscape, to plan for trail sustainability and use the terrain to create the perfect flow for riders. From this GPS traces can be created to guide the trail builders saving them time and re-work. The trail can also be 3D modeled allowing un-paralleled visualisation and assessment of the concept for all stakeholders. This can even be used to test in a video game, allowing you to ride it before a shovel even touches the dirt! For pump and jump tracks fully dimensioned plans can be supplied for building including soil volumes. Augmented reality technology can be utilised to project the track into its real space. This allows you to actually walk around the whole track, seeing it at scale and can be used to guide the building, meaning what's designed and tested in the simulation can be made in real life. With a background in mechanical engineering I can also design trail structures and provide the manufacturing drawings with cutting lists saving time and wasted material.
