Aging independently can be challenging.

Maintaining independence and intellectual pursuits in the face of deceased mobility; loss of a spouse or a distance from family is critical to a senior’s sense of vitality and purpose.

Many adult children think about their parents’ ability to live independently as they get older. Most seniors want to stay in their own homes for as long as possible, even if they need day-to-day assistance. They want to maintain their independence and to be able to make ‘their own rules ‘and live the way they always have. This choice should be a possibility for them. Unfortunately this is not always the outcome.

On any given day it is estimated that there may be as many as 3000 older people in public hospital beds who don’t need to be there. These 3000 people could be better cared for in an aged care service. Yet they are not able to leave hospital because there are not enough aged care places or services to assist with care within their own homes.

As an aged care service provider, I would like to be able to help older people stay comfortably and safely at home, and away from inappropriately used hospital beds. Good care begins with watching and listening, with entering the senior's world and accepting it. Being mindful of how the older person feels and looking for ways we can help.

Aged Care Support Service provides private personal care service to clients and their families. We give you an alternative to expensive private agencies and lengthy waiting times delays from government funded services; we offer mindful care in our home-care consulting and care management services.

Quality caregivers can be provided, who bring energy and warmth into an older person’s world. Our Caregiver Services include:

• Accompany to medical appointments and take notes
• Accompany to and from travel destinations
• Administrative assistance i. e. : balance cheque books and prepare bills for payment
• Resolve medical insurance and Medicare issues
• Organisation of home; of closets, filing cabinets, garages
• Errand and courier service
• Grocery, clothes and personal shopping
• Research and critique options for ‘next level of care’
• Meal preparation – customise cooking to the preferred cuisine, as well as diet monitoring
• Organisation and arrangement of cleaning services , pet services, household repairs and grounds maintenance, delivered meals and catered events
• Consult with medical providers to support seniors medical situation
• Provide respite for families
• Companionship
• Help seniors understand the mail they receive
• Arrange individual fitness, recreational and social calendar
• Assist with computer, Internet, mobile phone training and support
• Assist with holiday planning, purchase, wrap and mail gifts
• Daily telephone check-ups and reminder service
• Monitor whether medications are on hand
• Drive and assist at appointments with professional and allied services.
