Aibc Vic Description

The Australia India Business Council is the pre-eminent business council whose objectives are to promote bilateral trade & investment and grow Australia-India ties through business advocacy and business networking. The AIBC maintains close relationships with federal and state government agencies, the diplomatic corps and industry bodies. It showcases opportunities to the Australian and Indian business communities through an active program of events including support for inbound and outbound trade delegations.

Two-way trade between Australia and India has grown rapidly in recent years, driven by the strong complementarities between our economies. India is now Australia's third largest merchandise export market, and Australia is India's eighth largest trading partner. In 2009-10, two-way trade between Australia and India was in the order of $20 billion. In May 2011 Mr. i Anand Sharma and The Hon Dr Craig Emerson agreed to double this figure to $40 billion over a period of four years. The Australia India economic relationship is one of huge potential and AIBC plays an important role within this space.
