About Allen Fox Equine Massage

Non-invasive, drug and machine free massage therapy has multiple benefits. All horses in high performance competition can benefit from massage therapy.

Allen Fox Equine Massage Description

A former successful jockey, Allen has lived and worked with horses his entire lifetime. With 30 years experience riding, training and observing horses he also developed an interest in treating injuries and muscular problems commonplace in performance horses. While watching and utilising the skills of many varied practitioners the benefits of Equine Myofunctional (Massage) Therapy became apparent. Many Fox stable horses had shown immediate improved soundness and performance after treatment. Massage therapy became a part of the stable horses’ maintenance and pre-race routine.
Non-invasive, drug free and a natural way to relax highly strung thoroughbreds, massage therapy has multiple benefits. Horses in high performance areas as well all other working horses who could benefit from improved suppleness and mobility are likely to respond well to massage therapy. As well as assisting in the healing of injuries, massage therapy is used to maintain horses in peak condition which is the best preventative measure against future injury or unsoundness.
Muscles which have the maximum amount of stretch can, for example, reduce the chance of tendon injury. Muscles should have 90% stretching capability while tendons only possess a10% ability to stretch. Although the conformation of a horse cannot be changed, massage loosens the muscles enabling higher blood flow improving all skeletal functions. Massage giving elasticity back to the muscles allows them to perform at their optimum level giving strength and support to the skeletal system.
Allen undertook his Equine Myofunctional Therapy qualification to improve his knowledge of horses. He now looks to pass on the benefits of this knowledge to clients to improve their horse’s performance and welfare.

Referrals from clients:

Daniel Holland—Polocrosse Player / Horse Breaker
“For the past 12 months Allen has been a reliable and positive asset to my stable of horses ranging from thoroughbred breakers, pre-trainers and national level polocrosse horses. In this time Allen has constantly treated ‘Shooter’ a six year old stockhorse gelding. Since starting treatments he has won multiple best horse awards in A grade open competitions, including being selected to represent Victoria. In my belief, without Allen’s treatments ’Shooter’ wouldn’t be able to compete at the level in which he has done. I would strongly recommend Allen’s treatment of horses to anyone”.

Connie Fischer—Horse Owner / Proprietor Starlite Lodge
“Allen is great around the horses and his massage treatments have always had a positive result with my horses, so I would highly recommend him to anyone requiring treatment for their horse”.

Sean Mott—Racehorse Trainer
“I have found Allen to be diligent, thorough and contentious when massaging my horses. I have no doubt he has contributed to any success I have had and his feed back is most helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Allen”.
