Alroy Tavern

Service was abominable ! We had a large group who tried to help by pre-arranging our choices based on the website menu, so we had to re-order. The attitude of the chef was rude and haughty, " We don't use that menu anymore-not my problem " type of comment and treated us like it was our fault. He also complained we would have to order in set groups--it was very busy and then meals were delivered to the wrong tables, whilst some people didn't get anything at all ! There were some nice waitresses but one particular young waitress was rude and ungracious...Also we were told that we would have 2 rooms and the veranda when booking, when we arrived we were given just the veranda...so someone overbooked at the tavern.
Definitely wouldn't go again and management needs to re-train most of their staff in the art of Hospitality !

Love the Alroy. Friendly staff. The ambience of the Alroy is so relaxing. Good pub food.

Booked a christmas lunch for 17 people and we were squashed into a room like sardines in a row then we were told we had to go and order our meal at the counter. They told us they were over booked. ... not our problem. ... we were looking for a casual afternoon but not packed liked sardines

I like the pub and grounds but my last visit was marred by the meals of two of our party being forgotten. OK mistakes can happen and it's not the end of the world. But when I ask the young waitress if she could check to find out where the missing meals were she returned quite distraught and frightened. Apparently the response to her enquiry at the kitchen on my behalf was not what she was expecting . I felt sorry for the girl who was cleary upset. Not good. I only hope by posting this I do not make things worse for her. Treat your staff with respect and that will flow through to the customer. Ray.

Different to anything else in the area. The grounds are well maintained and make it seem like you're somewhere far different. I like that the menu is ambitious and deviates from just the standard pub fare (though you can definitely still get the standards too). My salad had a bit too much dressing for my tastes, but I'm sure some people would be happy with it. It would be good if any of the specials/lunch specials included a vegetarian option, even just a burger or something.
It would be a nice place to catch up with friends just for coffee and cake, or to bring a large group for lunch or dinner.

Great little pub! Lots of nice outdoor areas and decent indoor areas. Standard pub fare foodwise. Wedding reception was on when I went so couldn't access much of the place and it was manic busy, but still had a good dinner.

Spoken poorly to by wait staff (Amy), manager asked her to apologise however she returned to our table and argued with me. She said her manager wouldn't care as she would agree. Got daggers and bad looks from her. So bad. Almost 2 hour wait for food (busy), which I would put up with - but the service was atrocious! Worse lunch experience ever. Poor systems in place, wait staff need training!

Just had beeakfast. There was plenty and it was lovely. Will definitely be coming back.

Nice for an evening catch up with friends. Menu has a lot of choice but sometimes a bit of a hit and miss with the food. Service is always friendly though.
