This hotel is a rip off. I had requested an early check in as I had a 20 hour flight and was arriving early and was told that if the room was available, then there shouldn't be a problem. The check in staff asked how I was and I expressed how utterly exhausted I was from jet lag and was ready for sleep and she said good news is the room is ready so I can sleep. Then she said it's going to be an extra AUD 50! I was shocked as I have never heard of an early check in rate and felt completely extorted. Even the guests next to me were shocked and said she was taking advantage of me being completely exhausted. I told her that at no point during my back and forth communication was I informed of this and I said I'm not going to pay for something I have not been informed. Only then, she said she will waive it but only with strong attitude that she was doing me a "favor" and "gesture of good will". I've stayed at hotels around the world and have never heard of such a fee being charged at the last minute. This hotel also doesn't have any complimentary water and even charges for the cheap "hotel brand" water at an exorbitant price. The water is very expensive and every nice hotel I've stayed at such as the Four Seasons does not charge for their branded water.

There's also a room service charge. There seems to be hidden fees for everything. The room is mediocre and overpriced. When I wrote to reservation to complain about my check in and asking them to rectify the situation, the lady took my email and violated my privacy by writing back to me defiantly defending her position without apologizing. This is a matter that should have been handled by the supervisor and she had no right to access my email to confront me directly in that manner. Needless to say, I will never stay at this hotel again and will make sure everybody knows about my nightmarish experience.
