We have 3 new dogs going up for adoption this weekend at our Kemps Creek shelter: 8 month old Julian, 6 month old Batman, and 11 year old Angel.

Quiet, gentle and unassuming, Ping is a treasure. Easy-going and laidback, all she wants is a quiet spot to call her own. She'd love to sit in that patch of sunlight on your windowsill, or that comfy cushion on your couch. But unfortunately, she is always overlooked in our cattery.
With her tabby fur and middling years, 5 year old Ping is neither a cute kitten nor a saintly senior cat. She is instead a middle-aged moggie who is just yearning for love and acceptance and a hom...e of her own.
So far, Ping has been waiting 291 days for adoption. It's sad because she really is a sweetheart who could make many a cat lover happy. She isn't fussy or demanding and has no medical issues or dietary requirements.
All she'd like is a quiet home (without little ones or other cats) where she can relax into being the beautiful soul she is. A whole house or apartment for her to wander around in would truly be miraculous after she has spent so many long months in our cattery. A home where she needn't be frightened or fearful of other cats, or bored by confined spaces, would be life changing for beautiful Ping.
If you're visiting our cattery with the intention of adopting, stop by the large catmax inside to pay attention to Ping. She'll likely be relaxing in her bed, curled up in a cosy ball. Give her a chance - she might just be the cat you've been looking for all along.

Walking Deckard this morning, we came across one of his favourite people, Sam. Sam has spent a lot of time with Deckard, walking him and playing fetch with him. We loved to see this amazing exchange! ❤ Deckard can be a little timid around people he hasn't met yet, so this is a side of him people don't always see. But this just shows you what a loving boy he is once you've earned his trust. All this love will be coming to the lucky person who adopts Deckard. 💗😀

Huge thank you to the Erskineville Hotel for raising almost $800 for us during their recent #karmakeg initiative. Scooter can't get the smile from her face knowing so many people care about our animals! ❤😀

CAN YOU GIVE DECKARD A HOME?
Watching Deckard play ball is a delight. He *loves* it. If he's not chasing it, he's dribbling it around (using his mouth and paws) and just trying to keep the ball away from prying hands - but near enough to them so they'll pick the ball up and throw it!
Deckard's been with us for 7 months now waiting for a home. We think it's high time he was adopted. He is a lovely, clever, loyal working breed boy who would make a great mate. He'd like to be yo...ur only pet (because he may give chase to smaller pets!).

Did you know Australia is one of only 8 countries in the world where greyhound racing is still legal? The rest of the world has figured out what a barbaric practice it is.
In our very own backyard, greyhounds are bred to race. After brief careers they're discarded. Their individual fates are linked to their profitability, and only a very small percentage of hounds make it through to 'retirement'. Tragically, most are killed after their racing careers (or before, if they show ...no predisposition to race). The industry itself has acknowledged that it kills up to 17,000 dogs every year.
This has to stop. Greyhounds are not 'running machines'. Rather, they are sensitive and loving dogs with emotional lives all their own. We should know, as we re-home so many of them to loving homes.
PLEASE sign our petition to ban greyhound racing. This issue isn't going away. In the lead up to the Million Dollar Chase, this fight has only just begun.💪💔

After moving in to his brand new pad a few weeks ago, gorgeous Zorro has made himself right at home.
"Just wanted to email in to say we love our new baby Zorro!
In his first week he's had such a great time exploring our flat and barely hides at all. He loves sleeping on the end of our bed, playing and coming out to get attention.
... Thanks for taking care of him in the shelter for so long while he waited for his home. " - Carla, Zorro's new guardian. 💓🐾🏡

Buster came to us emaciated. His case was heartbreaking though not uncommon here. Every week our Inspectorate takes in animals that have been seriously neglected. Our vet team lovingly restore them to health and they then find new homes through our Kemps Creek shelter. Please DONATE to our organisation to help us carry on our work and save these precious lives. https://www.thankq.net.au/donate/V413/Don ate1.aspx…

Thank you Petstock Mona Vale for hosting our pop up adoption day. We had a great time! Dusty was adopted, but it wasn't Logan's turn today. He had an amazing time getting lots of pats and treats though. 💗

AWL shelter dog Ebony was adopted 20 years ago, and she's still going strong!💪❤️
"We adopted Ebony from West Hoxton 20 years ago as a 6 week old pup. She's very demented now, going blind and every day I'm wondering if it'll be her last. Her last vet visit 3 months ago confirmed she's in no pain and when she hears the rattle of the lead she thinks she's a 2yr old pup, not a 20yr old geriatric.
My son turned 10 in Dec 1998 and bought her with his Christmas/birthday money. We h...ad to leave her for a week or so to get desexed and microchipped but since then, she has been our constant companion. During my sons teenage years he now says, as a nearly 30 year old, that he's glad she can't talk! I said with her dementia she's forgotten all your naughty things!Lol...We love her so much."
- Jacqui, Ebony's guardian ❤️

Do you like your cats sweet and shy?😍
Pretty calico Zelda (3 years old) is patiently waiting for a home. She's been waiting almost 9 months. People who visit our cattery end up missing her because she sometimes hides away. Once she gains your trust, she is wonderfully affectionate. If you visit our cattery, please ask us to meet Zelda.

Last Friday while we watched the leadership saga play out in Canberra, the NSW state government quietly announced they would contribute $700,000 of tax payer money to upgrade the greyhound racing track in Goulburn. The track is to be the new temporary home of the Canberra Greyhound Racing Club, as greyhound racing is now banned in Canberra.
This follows a recent NSW Government announcement to pitch in $500,000 of community money to the “million dollar chase”, a greyhound race... with a never-seen-before prize of 1 million dollars. Nowhere in the world can you find a bigger prize for a greyhound race. Tellingly, the Million Dollar Chase is sponsored by Ladbrokes, an online gambling corporation.
The state government’s bid to frame greyhound racing as a revenue generating wellspring for lower income areas such as Goulburn is appalling. Greyhound lives are put on the line for money and greyhounds will keep being bred simply to race and win. Tragically, these gentle, loving dogs are collateral in a bid for revenue and power.
We know dogs bred for racing face uncertain fates. Many are euthanized after their track careers, if they make it that far. Only in June, a mass grave of greyhounds was found in Marsden Park. We’ve no doubt there are many other atrocities committed toward greyhounds in our state that will never be uncovered.
We condemn greyhound racing and demand the greyhound racing ban be reinstated. We have seen too many heartbreaking stories of greyhound abuse and neglect, and we know that the industry is unable to regulate itself.
