About Arts Council Of The Dorrigo

Est. 1982, the Arts Council of The Dorrigo is a community organisation that supports a wide variety of arts and crafts activities on The Dorrigo Plateau.

Arts Council Of The Dorrigo Description

We are proud of the diversity and excellence of our local artists, musicians, writers, and artisans, and we’re pleased to support and promote them to the general public. The Council is a collective administrated completely by volunteers. We welcome everyone interested in the arts, whether your participation is as a professional, a dedicated amateur, a beginner, or simply as an appreciative audience member.

With annual events such as the Creative Mountain Arts Exhibition (held each Easter), the Fine Arts Section of the Dorrigo Show (held each November), Gallery 2453, and a lively series of workshops, recitals, and public lectures, our Arts Council is considered one of the stronger and most effective arts councils in the Mid North Coast Region. Founded in 1982, the Arts Council of The Dorrigo is a remarkable achievement for a community of approximately 2000 people.

The elected Steering Committee oversees the annual planning of events, and coordinates aspects of budget, logistics, equipment, insurance, and publicity that pertain to all the groups. The Steering Committee meets ten times a year (members are welcome to attend), while General Meetings are held four times a year. Our General Meetings are open to anyone interested in becoming a member. Our special-interest groups schedule their own meetings as they choose, reporting back to the whole membership at the General Meetings.
