Having studied Sport and Exercise Science at university I am equipped with the knowledge and keen eye for fitness and nutrition. Through my studies I have learnt what different fitness regimes work and the science behind them. About Adam
Since I was 4 my parents told me that I had to play at least one sport every week. I'll admit, I hated going to Soccer on a Saturday morning in the rain, but I had committed myself to it and played on for 6 years. I then decided I wanted to change sports, I tried: tennis, football, cricket, netball and basketball. Once I got into high school I started hitting the gym to get stronger, I was young and intimidated by the older and much bigger gym goers so I quickly stopped and bought my own home gym.
Fast forward 5 years, I obtained my certificate III & IV in fitness from the Australian Fitness Network, but this wasn't enough for me. I had learned a lot about programming and designing a 'fitness' program, however I still have a hankering to learn more. I started to delve into the science and why our bodies require these nutrients, what reaction they have on our body etc.
I decided I would study a bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science at university to further my knowledge in this area. I was half way though my course when I found a job at a large personal training franchise, it was the best performing studio in Australia. However, the exercise and nutrition advice that was being taught to me by the senior trainers was going against everything I had learnt at University. This is when I realized that majority of the personal trainers out there have only done their Cert II & IV. I was, and still am, shocked at the advice I hear being handed out to gym goers. Advice that has no scientific research, no studies to back up the claims, people are paying these ‘trainers’ to help them better themselves, in the long run they are doing damage to their body. It is like releasing a drug with no testing - who knows what the result will be!
I decided to leave that studio and start my own online personal training business where I could finally give people the correct information. I can set exercise and nutrition plans that are approved by science and that I have confidence in. I have a passion for what I do, I chose this path as it fulfils me as a carer to know that I am Making a difference in someone’s life and hopefully giving them knowledge that will last a lifetime.

Time Under Tension This is the most basic yet most underutilized aspect of weight training. Muscles will only grow when they are placed under stress (load). The longer we can stress the muscle during our activity the more the muscle will adapt or grow in size and/or strength. Usually you will want to increase the time of your eccentric contractions (Lowering the weight) in order to place more stress on the muscle.
Everyone is different and will adapt to different eccentric ...times but a good starting point is (2010) – that is 2 seconds lowering, no rest at the bottom of ROM, 1 second concentric & no rest at the top ROM.

The findings show that even a little exercise wards off insulin resistance, a precursor to type 2 diabetes which can result from a high-fat diet.
