Assyrian Church Of The East - Cathedral Of St Hormisdas

Best church ever, it has so much good history. I'm so blessed being part of this church.

Nice looking church. Amazing architecture. It's a central part for many Nestorian Assyrians. But I gotta sadly say bluntly that, funerals or memorial services have ruined its image. When I look at this church my heart feels cold and all I think of coffins and wailing women walking out from it (especially this year, since so many Assyrians I knew died and were taken there).

This makes me protest against the general idea of the dead being bought inside churches. I think they should be taken to some community hall where a priest would be hired to pray over the deceased.

I'm saying this in defense of the Assyrian churches. I want happiness and joy to come out form them, not sorrow. As a child, all I remember from this church was weddings and marriage. Too bad that today these "funeral" images associated to the church have ruined its representation.

St hurmizd cathedral is an amazing church for people of any faith, god bless
