It's Speech Pathology Week and the theme this year is "Communication Access is Communication for All." Many of our clients would have seen speech pathologists at some stage - Communication is a basic human right and Speech Pathology Week seeks to promote this fact. Find out more via the link.

"My 6 year old son Beau’s paediatric audiologist Marnie used an anatomical ear model to show him how the sound travels in the ear and showed where things were going wrong causing his hearing loss. After our appointment we checked out a fantastic educational video in animation for kids on YouTube about how the ears work. Check it out at youtu.be/HMXoHKwWmU8"

Do you own a Roger or FM device? We'd love to get your help!
Hearing aids help people to hear and understand better in many situations, but hearing in noisy environments or when a speaker is at a distance can still be difficult. Using an assistive device, such as a Roger device or FM system, can help in these situations.
This study seeks to learn the experiences and perceptions of Roger and FM device use from the perspective of adults with hearing impairment, their key communication partners, and hearing care professionals, in order to better understand what works and what doesn’t. This insight will contribute to improving these devices to better supporting listening and communication at home, work, and in social settings.

Bec tagged us on this post and said "Today was one of the best days of my life. Today I got my hearing aids switched on for the first time. For a long time I struggled with hearing loss without even realising it until this year. A lot of you may not of been unaware of this because so was I for a long time. I didn’t surround myself in social situations, couldn’t concentrate in class and struggled with my passion for music. I have been on an emotional roller coaster discovering new things about myself. Never “dis” your ability because of a disability."
