Australian Light Horse Brigade - Offer For High Schools Description

INTRODUCTION
The historic charge by the Australian Light Horse Brigade on 31st October 1917, in Beersheba, is an event without comparison.

In the last major cavalry event of modern history, the Australian Light Horse Brigade succeeded and captured Beersheba - a victory that changed the war and saw the end of an empire.

2017 is the centenary of this remarkable ANZAC victory.

The Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has recently accepted the personal
invitation from The Prime Minister of Israel, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, to
attend the Centenary Events at Beersheba, October 31st 2017.

Representatives from many countries including New Zealand, Turkey,
England, Jordan, Israel and others, will participate. It is anticipated
approximately 3, 500 people will attend including; descendants,
Indigenous Australians, Veterans, Australian Government and Defense
Force officials, international students and other groups.

This program is specifically designed for Australian school students to
attend and participate in this historic event.

While the core theme of this tour will be centered around the ANZACS
and their spirit of endurance, bravery, ingenuity, good humour and
mateship, there are also education streams focusing on ancient history
through to modern technology and innovation.
