AOA CEO Adrian Cosenza today presented the Australian Consensus Framework on Ethical Collaboration in the Healthcare Sector at an APEC forum in Tokyo.
The Framework outlines the ethical principals, values and goals to which more than 50 signatories have committed, with the aim to reinforce ethical conduct in collaboration between all elements of the healthcare community.
The Framework has received the endorsement of the Federal Minister for Health and the health ministers of ...every Australian state and territory.
The presentation and the Framework were recognised with the Lighthouse Award at the summit.

Events like these, which facilitate the exchange of the latest orthopaedic research, are crucial to maintaining Australia's world-leading health system and continuously improving patient outcomes.
In 2015, Australia lost a much-loved and deeply-respected surgeon, Dr Ian torode. Tomorrow, Friday 20 July, the second annual Ian Torode Memorial Lecture will bring surgeons together at the Royal Children's Hospital in Victoria to honour his life and work through scientific exchange on paediatric orthopaedics.

The weekend's Australian Orthopaedic Trauma Society ASM brought together trauma surgeons from across the country for a succinct but comprehensive program, including presentations from international expert Professor Endre Varga.
Congratulations, Prof Sonnabend AM and Dr Ostinga OAM, on your recognition in the recent Queen's Birthday Honours.
Professor Sonnabend was awarded membership of the general division for his "significant service to medicine in the field of orthopaedics, as a clinician and administrator, and to medical education".
Dr Ostinga was awarded a medal in the general division for "service to medicine, particularly to orthopaedics".

AOA’s Tasmanian orthopaedic surgeons gathered over the weekend for their Annual Scientific Meeting. Highlights from the meeting included a ‘Hobart vs Launceston’ debate – titled, ‘Robots are the bees knees’ – an ethics implementation workshop, and scientific sessions across the areas of knee, hip and lower limb.
