Did you know that exercise during pregnancy is actually far less restrictive than what is widely assumed? ... and we all have caring family members who like to tell us to 'put our feet up'. Exercise has been shown to reduce the risk of gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia and cesarian deliveries. If you're not sure, ask your health professional before you get moving. The right exercise for you is key... which you can find out about at our Women's Health Night on Wed 22nd Aug. SHHHH... we might also have something that will help you coming in the near future. You can thank us later. Put your guess below what it is and you'll go in the running to have early access (pregnant mammas only).

Did you/do you suffer morning sickness? 🤢The team at Happy Apple Nutrition has a solution! ... 'They call it “morning sickness” but unfortunately for some of us it can actually be “all day sickness”!!! It is common for pregnant woman to experience what we call “morning sickness” from around 6 weeks up until 14-16 weeks of pregnancy. The best tip for managing nausea during pregnancy is to EAT... this may sound like a hard task but it’s important that you eat small amounts regularly to avoid feeling empty or hungry as this will make the nausea worse!'

Have you had a baby and are struggling to know how and when to return to exercise... or just regain some strength? We're adamant on breaking the cycle that women are increasingly giving up on exercise after having a baby. With a Women's Health Check up by your physio you can make a gradual return that suitable to your body and your babies (or toddlers) needs. In the lead up to our Women's Health Week event next week (Wed 22nd Aug!) we'll be 'leaking' some key info here on facebook starting with this one. #itscommonnotnormal

Are you pregnant or know someone who is? Do you know what is a "safe" amount of exercise during pregnancy or what types of exercise are encouraged? Its actually far less restrictive than you think. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, most recent guidelines suggest that women with uncomplicated pregnancies should be encouraged, rather than detered from participating in aerobic and strength and conditioning based exercise before, during and after their pre...gnancies. Exercise has been shown to reduce the risk of gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia and cesarian deliveries. Want to know more? Join us for our informative information evening "Healthy Mum Healthy Bub" where we will discuss this topic more thoroughly, as well as hear from our great friends Happy Apple Nutrition and Sleep Happy Co. Please contact our Albury Clinic on 02 60 212695 today to reserve your seat. .

Clients often tell us that they have never been into exercise.... But we eat, sleep and go to the bathroom (hopefully)... as daily necessities. So is exercise So if you’re someone who struggles to exercise everyday as part of your routine completing a strenuous session on 2-3 days including vigorous strength training as guided by you’re physio can be enough combined with walking and incidental exercise on the other days. Often older adults are under prescribed when it comes to difficulty and intensity of exercise. Don’t sell yourself short and be guided safely by a qualified physiotherapist. You may surprise yourself and enjoy it!

Train fast and slow- everyone but particularly as we age! Exercise such as dancing is one of the best ways to do this as it can assist with speed, balance, co-ordination and benefit your heart and lungs not too mention the social interaction! And if you need any motivation check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ftLiZhXr a8

Don’t let the effects of ageing sneak up on you! A gradual deterioration in strength and muscle bulk may occur without you paying attention to it. To to keep your independence well into the future by you need to invest in your physical health today! Consider at what you want to do in your senior years/retirement and create a plan with your physiotherapist to help you achieve this, whether its to comfortably live in your 2-storey house you love for longer, walk 18 holes of the golf course or hike the Inca Trail (theres lots of stairs!!)?
